Using the Automator app that's free with OS X it's possible to knock up something that does pretty much the same thing with just one action 'Quit All Applications' which closes Dock apps. You can then add bells & whistles like a confirmation dialogue first, exclude certain apps, a notification centre message, etc. Not trying to knock the effort that the developer has gone to, just saying it's very easy to roll your own.
