Great little app that provides a fairly simple method to secure sensitive files. Here are a few minor concerns: - The option to take a picture and email it to you when the safe is unsuccessfully accessed it pretty cool, but having that option enabled means Apple's Mail application must be configured. I don't use the Mail app, and when invoked from this app I had to force quit Mail; clicking the cancel button in Mail did not respond (but it does when I launch Mail directly). Perhaps a note could be included that the Mail application must be configured for this feature. - The MySafe disk can be ejected, but the app is still in the "green" open status until you double-click the app's icon. It seems reasonable to make ejecting the disk work the same as if you double-clicked the app icon to close it. - Since Spotlight does not see inside the safe folders, I wonder if backup apps such as Time Machine and Carbon Copy Cloner will back them up (and keep the password working as expected). Probably so, but it would be nice to see that potential issue clearly addressed in the documentation. - Is there a way to recover a forgotten password? For an app like this dealing with encryption it may not make sense to have password recovery, but perhaps with some security questions and email verification that may be feasible and desirable. - When file is copied to the safe folder, the original of course still resides on the other disk; in other words, you don't move files into the protected safe folder, you copy them. Thus, a user would then probably trash the original and empty the trash to secure their data. However, doesn't that potentially leave the deleted file in a recoverable state using file undelete software, unless the user runs a shredder type app to obliterate the trash? A cool feature for MySafe would be a user-controlled option to securely delete the files from their source. The trick of changing the MySafe icon to a folder and then back to the original app icon when it is running is pretty cool! Even though the specs state Mac OS X 10.7 is needed, it seems to be running just fine on Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

This software is not working with MacOS Mojave and the developer's website is gone. I'll need to find a different way to access my locked files. Do not download if you are using Mojave.

Not happy. First of all when I had to update MySafe for new MacOSX my old MySafe became un-accessible so I lost all the files. Then the new MySafe version won't work unless I Post/Share/Like on Facebook (what if you don't have it??) but I did do this and got no reply to my email requesting the licence as instructed. Why can't one just pay a small fee to get the licence instead? It is all too hard, and I will be finding alternative software now.

Finally someone made a great program to secure our files! I don't want to have to constantly lock my entire computer to protect a few personal files and folders! It even emails a picture of the person if they try to open the safe! Great Job!!!!

Great security app‼️ Simple, good GUI, and I like that I can use my thumb drives for extra security‼️. The developer goes out of his way to help you afford this little prize, and that's unusual these days ;-) Great job, good program, and thanks for everything‼️ Annie

MySafe insists on using Apple Mail, which I do not use. I can’t get it to open without automatically trying to set up a new Mail account, which I really don’t want to do. That’s annoying as hell, it should not have been set up that way (but since it is, there should at least be prominent warnings about it during setup BEFORE you are forced to create your safe). Also, I discovered that you can’t update MySafe by simply replacing the old version with the new one (and yes, my safe was closed) because when you open the new version for the first time it will try again to create a new safe again, and there’s no way to make it behave normally by opening the already-created safe.n Ugh. So, is there an uninstaller? Please tell me there is, because this is the last app I’d want to improperly remove. And please tell me it will also uninstall the 1TB-max safe I created but haven’t yet put anything in.

Give SharedSecrets a go. Simple and free. I've been using it happily on SL but, according to a reviewer, it works fine on ML too.

Haven't tried it. Here's why (from the Developer's website): 1) Password need to be one single word, letters only. Letters only? Do we at least get UpPerAndLowerCase? 2) Name [of Safe file] need to be one single word, letters only. Letters only? Do we at least get UpPerAndLowerCase? What happens on a case-sensitive formatted drive? 3) But please remember that even empty, a 50GB (50000) safe will take 50GB on your Hard drive. So it's not using dynamically expanding drives. 4) Since it would seem to be using existing capabilities built-in to Apple's Disk Utility in a very User-friendly way, can the resulting Safe files still be opened without the Application, or is it just bundling needless tie-in on top of what Disk Utility already provides (albeit obscurely)? outer

Cute and useful program. Sending a photo of the person who unsuccessfully tried to open the safe is a nice touch. I'm sure there are ways to make a hidden partition like this in OSX but the interface makes it very easy. I'd like an access code for the full version too please. Thanks
