MiJournal

1.3.8
26 May 2018

Feature-rich journaling application.

Overview

MiJournal gives you a feature-rich set of options for organizing your daily record of occurrences, experiences, or observations. MiJournal is much like the paper journals from days of old, except that you can back it up, drag-and-drop photos and videos into your entries, password protect it, and encrypt it. Plus, you will never run out of journal entry pages!

MiJournal makes it easy to add photos and videos to your journal entries. If a picture is worth a thousand words, this will save you some typing! Just drag and drop images, videos, sound clips - even links to emails and iCal items into the main window.

Needs work. The problem of always resetting itself to a different date so that when you open it, you have to select the date you want, the year, etc... Any journal app has to be quick and easy (for me). It's still very basic and not quite worth the money being asked...yet. It does have potential. I believe it needs a redesign. It certainly is Mac-like. But it needs some features to set it apart from the great journal apps like MacJournal and the incredible late and lamented (but still Lion compatible) Journler. I can't rate it yet because I don't feel it's ready yet for prime time. Just my opinion. But thank you for making a free trial available.

Thanks for the comment. The app is currently designed to go to today's date. Maybe we could add a preference item so (optionally) when you open the app, it goes back to the date you last worked on?

I second that idea that it is good to be able to trial it. If this goes to the Apple Store I ditch it immediately - not dealing with those Nazis - no way, no how. I like this developer’s open hearted feedback - that augers well indeed. If he/she comes to understand the principle of threshold product marketing instead of flying this for $14 and stopping its sale altogether (well nearly). It is a $4.99 product - at that price it will sell like hot cakes.

My comment about price threshold probably needs some evidence - well, consider the FREE Growly Journal or the companion Growly Notes - Free from the developer’s site in an earlier version and $4.99 - or thereabouts from the evil Nazis at MAS for a later version.

Hi Lord-Lightning. Thank you for the review. In fact, we offer this app on the app store as well as our website. I wouldn't necessarily call Apple "Nazis" (after all, they did create the platform that we develop on)... but I agree that there are many drawbacks to the Apple Store. Us developers often feel like we have our hands tied between two seemingly opposing tenants: security and features. About the price: we have carefully experimented with several different price points and discovered that the current offering is the best. I have not looked at the apps you are suggesting (in fact, I probably should)... but as you probably know, with paid apps, you're really paying for continued developer support, features, and upgrades for the latest operating systems. Some free apps continue to be developed, so this is not a hit on them, just an assertion that paid apps have their place in the world too.
