Am I missing something here? This feature is already available in Mac OS X, since version 10.2. Open Keychain Access, choose "Preferences…" from the Keychain Access menu and then enable "Show keychain status in menu bar". A black keychain appears with a "Lock Screen" command inside. Or you can either press Control+Shift+Eject, as alredy mentioned.

You may do the same via keychain app preferences. Almost useless.

I'm really confused: what can you do from Keychain? Bluetooth lock? Lock through hotkey? Not trying to be a smart ass I'm really curious what you mean...

??? Keychain Menu Extra doing this same. Even better. If you want to use keyboard just press Control+Shift+Power. So, I still do not understand purpose of this software.

What do you refer to when you say Keychain Menu Extra? I can't find anything like this in Keychain Access.

The idea seems great. However, I encountered a few issues. When downloading from MacUpdate, it "installs" the app via a MacUpdate installer which pushes you try some image editing software junk I didn't even ask for. After declining these options the app did not install. Instead the installer placed a copy of the apps .dmg in my applications folder. I double clicked it because I really wanted to try the app. The package expanded and it seems there was no installer this time, just the app and a shortcut to add it to the Applications directory. I moved it to the Applications directory and the app summary indicated it was version 1.3 despite the developers site saying 1.2.1 is the latest version. Anyways, I launched the app and ran update, the app updated and then refused to launch, it crashed every single time I tried to open it. (EXC_CRASH (Code Signature Invalid)) I didn't want to spend more time trying to get this thing to work so I'm uninstalling. In doing so, I found this app set a cookie in my system for tracking. Uggghhhh!

seems to be really great. to make it perfect, please add an Alarm to the securty actions. And these actions should be triggered by disconnecting the macsafe too, not only by entering a wrong password. thanks!

Have you even tried this software? Here are all the things Lock Me Now does that Keychain Access doesn't:
1) set a hotkey to go to lock screen (modern Mac laptops don't have an eject Key so no keyboard shortcut)
2) set a Bluetooth device to lock/unlock your Mac
3) disconnect your iOS device from your Mac

I appreciate that your 'review' was written back in 2012 so perhaps not all these features were available then, but it is still the highest rated comment here. My problem with your 'review' is it is actually a comment, comments don't rate the software, reviews do. You've given a ½ star rating to software that you either haven't used or have barely used. This is unfair to both the developer and to users who may be interested in this software. I personally have this set as a log-in item so that I can go to the log-in screen using a user-defined hot-key without logging out. To me it's simple, free and does it's job well - it's worth a lot more than ½ star.

@iBrain. Don't be discouraged by computer nerds who can't help showing off how much trivial knowledge they know. It's their infantile way of making themselves feel good by putting someone else down. They can't appreciate that you did a nice thing by freely sharing your simplification of an obscure Mac command, so they have to criticize what they cannot appreciate, without even testing it out. Share more stuff, whenever it pleases you. Ignore those who would try you belittle you.

How is this better than the 'Lock Screen' that the built-in Keychain provides? Keychain Access -> Preferences -> General -> Show Status in Menu Bar
