I have to say I really like this utility. It adds an icon and drop-menu to the main Finder menu bar where I can click and get a quick report on several items. If I want to see more detail, I can click on an item's sub-menu. (I've been watching my Magic Trackpad battery status for a month now.) I used a much older version of this software years ago and just returned to try it again. This version is much, much more useful and professionally presented. Kudos to the developer. Also, the time/date item at the bottom is GREAT! As I often travel, I found I can add several global cities to the sub-menu report and quickly tell the time if I am considering contacting a remote colleague. All is all, well done and recommended.

By the way, I use the "Combined" feature to display reports under one menu icon.

I've been a long-time user of MenuMeters, so that is my frame of reference coming into this program. MenuMeters is a stalwart favorite & just works - for free! But if you're ready for more information and flexibility, this packs a lot of information into the same compact space. I've got it set up to look just like MenuMeters, but each menu provides a much greater wealth of information. I would like to be able to customize more colors than just the default highlight color and various charts -- mostly interested in changing the colors of the real-time graphs on the menus themselves. Also, the world clock isn't flexible enough for my needs so i'm sticking with Meridian (custom labels, ordering, offsets + alarms). Also, the fan control doesn't seem to work on my 2011 iMac.

> I would like to be able to customize more colors than just the default highlight color and various charts -- mostly interested in changing the colors of the real-time graphs on the menus themselves. We have quite a lot of flexibility to change the graph colours. Please see the bottom of this page for more info: http://bjango.com/help/istatmenus4/gettingstarted/ tl;dr version? Just click the items in iStat Menus to open the options. :) > Also, the world clock isn't flexible enough for my needs so i'm sticking with Meridian (custom labels, ordering, offsets + alarms). Also, the fan control doesn't seem to work on my 2011 iMac. Please drag to reorder the world clocks in iStat Menus. We don’t have alarms, unfortunately. We’ll definitely consider custom labels in the future. Thanks

Oh sorry. I re-read your comment about colours. You’re right — we don’t currently allow changing colours of the dropdown menus.

Great program, a must have if you want to know what's happening on your system w/o taking up lots of screen space. Would like to be able to shrink the space between items (esp the CPU bars, 8 bars gets really wide) and otherwise have a bit more control over the visuals. Also appreciate that iStat Menus doesn't use a lot of CPU time, making it usable even on a Mac Book on battery. Highly recommended.
