Mix your music and share it online.

Overview

MixTape is a simple, beautiful, and easy-to-learn application for making beat-matched mixes. By simply dragging-and-dropping the music you already have in iTunes (or from the Finder), MixTape adds detected tempo and beats. Tracks are then dragged onto a workspace where they now "snap to grid" along their beats and play in sync. Precisely in sync. Emphasized markers show where musical phrases start and a simple envelope adds that all-important final polish to your mixes. MixTape Pro adds a "HiLo" control, dropping the bass or treble for cleaner mixes; a "live" UI where you can hear what is under the playhead at all times, and a spectrogram which visualizes beats and phrases with better clarity than traditional waveform displays.

Mixes can then be exported at a configurable bitrate back into iTunes to play on your Mac, iPod, or iPhone; or published directly onto the Web with no additional accounts, services, or software. MixTape Pro adds the ability to play your mixes live through a second audio interface - simply cue up your first track, start the live stream, then continue to use your headphone to mix as usual. The live stream will also transmit MIDI, so lighting or VJ rigs can be kept in sync with the music as it is played. Pro can use a 'night' color scheme to reduce glare when playing in dark environments.

Far simpler than either an audio workstation or a DJ app, MixTape embraces the Mac aesthetic to blend in perfectly with your desktop. Finally a short series of video tutorials emphasize 'show' over 'tell' and creative commons licensed demo mixes both show what can be done and how.

Generally the idea and concept of the app is fine but its has problems with a lot of music files. I've send this message to the support after I have purchased the app – with NO answer: Here the main part of the message: Its absolutely frustrating. Nearly every time when I press play I cant stopp the music again and have to restart the application. If the app do not freeze the stopp command will detected from the app some seconds later. Its not possible to work with the app on a professional basis even not on an amateur basis. I need an app like this for composing preview tracks for compilations and so Ive bought the app. But its not usable like this. I have a MacBookPro early 2013 with SSD drive and OSX Yosemite. I have recorded the beachball on video and my trials to stop the music: http://www.screencast.com/t/iMCtiJ7qyZF

I purchased it via the app store. What a waste of money. I wouldn't even use this app even if it was free. Crashes all the time and when it does work, it does not give the results i want. I use mixmeister and ableton live. I thought this app would be equal to mixmeister or better... boy was i wrong.

Hi, I did email you about the new version, eh? If not: new version! A very substantial amount of work has gone into making it play nicely with newer OSX's. Please let me know if this doesn't sort you out.

If you want a demo license, that's fine. Email me davep@atomicdroplet.com and I'll send one over. (the whole App Store thing makes trial licenses kinda messy)

Then leave the stupid AppStore. That trend has begun now and it will continue.

Sleek UI making music easy. Just drag'n'drop loops and off you go. I managed to make some remixes in seconds without knowing one note of music. :) Well worth the asking price if you are into making music/mixes.

Great capabilities of mixtape make drag and drop mixing a reality. Simple and very useable interface without all the flashing lights and clutter of other djing software. I've tries out dozens of mixing apps and mixtape is by far the simplest, quickest and therefore best mixing app there is for OSX. In a world of $1 iphone apps, this application is well worth the $69.
