Instant access any time. You can also take a quick peek at any application by pressing and holding the hotkey. When the hotkey is released, the application is hidden.

  • It's now possible to resize the window (hold Shift while resizing to freely resize the window).
  • You can click on an item's icon to launch/open/execute it.
  • Added support for executing Ruby, Python and shell scripts. Any output from the script will be shown in a notification.
  • A "Suggestions" window can now be displayed. Read more at http://www.apptivateapp.com/support/#suggestions.
  • Apptivate's window is no longer displayed when launching Apptivate (except for on first launch).
  • The preferences window has been improved.
  • Made the list items 33% smaller.
  • Hovering an item now displays the full path.
  • Fixes a bug that would cause Apptivate's window to be displayed when switching spaces.

Incredibly simple to use, and performs its task flawlessly - super fast application launching and (if selected in the preferences) hiding. Runs in the task bar instead of as a Preference Pane, which can take up more visual space than necessary IMHO, but I'd still give it 4.5 stars just for sheer simplicity and usefulness.

I just upgraded to Sierra, and was so happy to see this updated to 2.2 on the developers website with support and bugs fixed. This application is simply amazing, to me it beats all those type to launch tools by providing immediate access. I use it to mimic the windows taskbar feature of cmd/win + number to focus on the set application. I am so happy and love cocoa beans. Sincere thanks.

It still works like a charm. 4 stars rather than 5 because it'd be nice to simplify the setup, say, by choosing from running apps. Last year I thought it'd be a good idea to switch to some Nu Kit, which was de facto abandoned.

That said, Apptivate appears to be abandoned, too, i.e. Cocoabeans appears to have gone offline some time ago :(

I like the idea about being able to choose from running apps! I technically haven't abandoned Apptivate, but university (and now my summer job) has made it difficult to find time to work on Apptivate. Hopefully I'll be able to release version 2.1 (which is basically done) in the future. The reason for my websites going offline is the same as last time: my friends server (on which the websites are hosted) got a new IP-address. I just updated my domain settings to reflect the change, so they should be up again in the next day or so. I'm glad you still find Apptivate useful :) Cheers, Tim

App does exactly what it says, is reasonably priced, and the developer responded to my queries. Highly recommended if you spend a lot of time at the screen. For example, I toggled F6 to be my browser shortcut and it saves me so much time.

Is there any way to remove the menu bar icon? I've got all my shortcuts in place and don't need to add modifications, and now the menubar icon is just taking up space. As for the app itself, it is excellent, does what it says and does it well.

Apptivate is a fast, stable app. It does exactly what it says, and it does it quickly. Unfortunately, the UI is a bit clunky and you can't delete an item from your list once you've added it. You can delete a hotkey just fine, but the app remains to clutter up your list. Still, it's a minor annoyance and has quickly made itself indispensable.

Thanks to Cocoabeans for responding. Knowing how to delete something is very helpful.

The site has been down for some days. I hope Tim gets it back up. It seems to sell well and it's so close to be fully functional.

Yeah, my friend (whose server I'm hosting my website on) was having some trouble with his ISP. Everything should be back to normal by now. Cheers, Tim

Well, I was ready to support them since I've been using Apptivate for quite some time. But I'm not sure if 2.0 adds any value... clear case of losing a customer for now because I can't try out the new version. Seriously, holding Option just to get a serious list, which appears to contain only 3 instead of 8 entries? As soon as they add some proper window/pref pane to organize the short cuts I'm bought.
