AddressBook Aid2

3.2.4
17 September 2019

Edit Contacts' address book database.

Overview

AddressBook Aid2 is an application for editing contacts on your Mac. This is a redesigned version of AddressBookAid with using Contacts.framework which was introduced in OS X 10.11. In addition to the change, code refactoring and optimization have been made. Also the "Replace All" function in Find-and-Replace has been implemented. The contacts on your Mac are shown much like a spreadsheet. The date is separated in one column, and you can add/edit each value in the cell, sort the data in the column. You can find a value and replace all of them at once. And you can compare any two contacts in the special panel. AddressBook Aid2 is specialized in editing the contacts.

What's new in AddressBook Aid2

Version 3.2.4:
  • Changed the behavior when sorting the Name column by "FirstName" or "LastName".
  • If either FirstName or LastName is a null string, the remaining strings will be used. And the company is used to sort contacts if the contact is set as company.

  • Created a formatted address string by refering the country, if the contry code is not set.

As the site says "You can use this for 1 week as trial". So in reality it's not free.

Downloaded the demo version from the developer's website and after putzing around for 30 mins -- gave up. Never succeed in seeing a display of my Contacts/AddressBook. Great concept but evidently not ready for Mavericks OS X 10.9.1 ZERO STARS UNTIL THIS WORKS

It really should be marked as a demo or Shareware. A 'try before you buy' arrangement is basically what Shareware is after all.

I agree. Only shameless developers use tactics like this to lure unsuspecting users.

Naoh's definition of shareware may be what he currently has been led to believe., but that is not what it originally was. Historically shareware was something offered for free for an indefinite period of time but the developer requested payment if you liked it and wished to continue to use as part of your personal App library. An example of a major product that follows the original definition is Libreoffice, a shareware replacement for Microsoft Office. Personally I consider any fee based App that has a limited trial period a commercial product.
