Most helpful

Tried this (it is free for home use) but ended up using mixxx instead. The later is open source and it is possible to closely follow development and report problems if any are encountered. Also keep in mind, if you spend a lot of time in VirtualDJ tagging your tracks with cue points and beatgrids and then you have your first gig, you will have to pay the somewhat extensive price. So beware the lockin syndrome.

Don't be fooled by the cheesy interface - this program is quite good. I'd still use Traktor but this does a really good job and the sound quality is much better than the alternatives. Look at my old review of DJ apps on Ars Technica and you'll see an older version of VDJ reviewed.
