Screensaver that draws animated IFS fractals.

What is Ephemeral for Mac

Ephemeral is a screen saver that draws animated IFS fractals, giving an ever-changing display of complex, natural shapes. It uses OpenCL (a new feature of OS X introduced with Snow Leopard) to harness the power of your GPU to efficiently perform the IFS calculations.

What's new in Ephemeral

Version 1.1.2:
  • This release of Ephemeral contains a single fix for a crash on exit problem when running on OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.

Just tried this. It's very nice. However, on my two monitor setup, it only appeared on one monitor. I hope I'm missing something and that two monitors are supported.

Beautiful. One of the reasons I keep away from complex screensavers is because they eat the CPU and heat the computer. But this will barely uses CPU.

It works brillant with OS 10.8. And its grafik is very good. I love it meanwhile. No conflict with the system and on my iMac the CPU use is very low. A big thanks to the developer!

Has been my favourite screen saver for ages. Very happy that v1.1.1. works with OSX 10.7 Lion.

Love this screen saver in Snow Leopard OSX 10.6 but please remove it before you update to Lion. OSX 10.7 :( It locks up System Prefs and really upsets the new cat.. Sad..

Nice-looking screen saver, runs smoothly on my MacBook1,1 (original Core Duo, GMA 950, 10.6.7), but crashed in 2 circumstances: - after using Test button, rather than returning to System Preferences, it crashed when I moved mouse - crashed when I tried Options button

Got a bright red error screen complaining about an inability to initialize OpenCL. I guess my barely 1-year-old iMac is already hopelessly obsolete.
