New version now works on Mojave! Fantastic. The only thing I'd love to see is the savers not switching macOS from the integrated to the discrete GPU. (Don't know if that's possible though.)

It's so great to have these screen savers. They even work on Mojave, but sadly only in their default settings. As soon as you try to leave the respective screen saver settings in System Preferences, a crash occurs. Definitely needs a fix.

Thanks!!! Really great of you to port these screen savers. What happened with the "Retired" <https://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/screenshots/retired/> screen savers? Some of them actually look neat too. Were there just too many, or were they buggy, or something else? Keep up the great work!

What a nice early XMAS gift. Actually some of those savers brought back good memories of pre-OS X screen savers. Thank you MR.ZIELINSKI for making these available and FREE. I rate this as a TEN.

Full marks to the developer for trying but, for me at least, on 10.9.5 and 10.10 a number of these are still not working. The issues seems to focus around retrieving images from a location set in the individual modules settings. Oh, well.. it would be good though to somehow get these working again.

Well not crashing now though when I try 'Carousel' I get a light grey screen instead of any images being shown. Console reports: 09/06/2014 17:07:54.902 System Preferences[18658]: *** Caught exception: abort in -[XScreenSaverView render_x11]:1070 This seems odd as other modules like 'Flip Flop' and 'Slide Screen' do this fine. Best wishes to the developer for their continued efforts to get this right.

Still not working, for me at least. Modules like Carousel and Photopile show a grey screen when supposed to be running. Console reports: 05/06/2014 16:04:31.671 System Preferences[41100]: *** Caught exception: abort in -[XScreenSaverView render_x11]:1070 Still of course periodic crashes. Hope the developer can sometime fix this...

I, too have had a little bit of trouble with 5.26: System Preferences seems to crash whenever the Screen Saver Options button for any XSS is pressed - but only if another XSS is first previewed or it's options inspected. So basically, if I launch System Prefs, go to ScreenSavers and then select an XSS, I can access its options, but if I then select a different XSS and try to access the options, System Prefs crashes. Still trying to track down the cause but may end up contacting the dev. Overall however, the screensavers are fantastic like they've always been. For those having problems with the screensavers themselves crashing System Prefs when previewed, bear in mind that many of the savers allow you to set option ranges that your machine can't handle, no matter how fast it is. In that case, you'll probably have to trash the individual prefs file - located in ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/ as org.jwz.xscreensaver.*.plist.

@OSX-FTW and Amc3 I don't know what you 2 users are talking about.I have Mavericks on my Macbook Air and on my 2 iMacs I have Snow Leopard. I tested several of the Xscreensavers and they are all OK on all Macs. Please not I used the window Screensavers to install them instead of the other window install everything. Maybe that makes a difference. This is a 5 star application.

An A for effort. But, things aren't getting any more stable. Unfortunately, things may be getting worse. Many of these crash System Preferences or run poorly. Many others run great. A mixed bag.

Wow, talk about great timing! I just today removed all the old versions of these screen savers because they no longer worked under Mavericks (OS X 10.9)! Nice to not have even a day without them! Thanks to the developers. You're awesome!

It is GREAT to see some of those old favorites back again. For those of us that remember them this is great treat. This collection of screensavers shows the hard work of this developer to treat us all to these.

Wow, I've used several of these with my old PPC Mac for years. I just got a new Intel Mac that came with Lion and copied the savers over and got the incompatable message. Then I open MacUpdate and on the first page is the XScreenSaver 5.15 update. WooHoo, they all work with Lion now, Thanks!

Changes 18-Apr-2011: Optionally enabled full-scene OpenGL antialiasing. Set the resource *multiSample to true if doing so doesn't kill performance with your video hardware. New version of glhanoi. Image-loading hacks that display the file name now also display the sub-directory (xscreensaver-getimage now returns relative paths under imageDirectory). Passwords that contain UTF-8 non-Latin1 chars are now typeable. Numerous minor stability fixes.

The 64-bit compile by this other person was completely unnecessary and the links to it should be removed. Read this comment from the developer: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20100109122858247 "What in the world are you talking about? The MacOS builds of XScreenSaver have been 3-way compiled for ppc, x86 and x86_64 since xscreensaver version 5.09 released back in September. The same executables will install and run without modification on any Mac (ppc or intel) running MacOS 10.4.0 through 10.6.2. Incidentally, getting these to work on 10.6 was not simply a matter of recompiling them. The 10.6 version of ScreenSaverEngine did not only require that things be compiled for x86_64 -- it also required that garbage collection be turned on, and that resulted in a bunch of unexpectedly complicated memory-corruption bugs."

Over 200 screen savers in this download. Check out the screenshots on their website to decide which ones you'll give a spin in your Screen Savers folder, as while some are 'meh' others are pretty good.
