I tried to contact the author for a bug report, but they don't allow it easily on their site, so I will do it here.
I like the program and hope they can fix it.
I have switched back to using the built in Mac archiver and unarchiver after having multiple fails with keka on larger files above 2 or 4gb.

Nice little app, just what I wanted — a way to ZIP files without those DS_Store files cluttering things up for Windows users.

Growl support was a nice little bonus.

Thanks!

I've always liked this app, but now that Mavericks is installed, it is not working reliably.
I had a 300MB fail to extract today, for the 1st time ever, so I unarchived it with the Mac OS Archiver, and no problems. At first I thought I had a damaged file, but it was Keka.
I am saving the archive in it's original condition so I can try it again when there's another Keka update. For now, I'm setting the default app back to the OS Archiver.
Using 1.0.4b3

Maybe it was a tar/bzip/gzip? There was an incopatibility with this files in Mavericks. Solved in 1.0.4 :)

Suddenly Keka 1.0.3 is behaving weirdly on my OS 10.8.2 2.9 GHz Core i7 13” Mid-2012 MacBook Pro. Even though I have the preference set to “Close Keka when no window visible,” which has worked fine for me until now, whenever I drag something onto the Keka icon in the Dock, first the regular Keka window opens (not the Preferences window, but the regular window, which is also new behavior), and then Keka does not automatically close after the compression is complete as it used to.

Anyone else having this problem?

Yep, same here. It used to work flawlessly but now when it unpacks something it doesn't close down Keka, even though I've selected “Close Keka when no window visible". I've unchecked the option, closed Keka, reopened Keka, checked the option, closed down Keka & it works for a few days, then we're back to Keka refusing to close down after unpacking :-( Hope you can fix it...

Found a serious bug:
Try to download Diablo III Setup “Diablo-III-Setup-enUS.zip”
Extract with keka and the result is an unusable app.
Same file extracted with The Unarchiver or similar app, result no problem.

Hope this help!

Keka has been working for me very good for a long time as the standard application for expanding zip archives etc.

Recently I had a problem: When trying to unzip the text editor EDDIE 2.1 (http://el34software.com/latest/Eddie%20OSX%202.1.zip) with keka 0.1.4.2 , I got a prompt requiring a password (although there is no password set) and could not unzip the zip file.
(with the built-in archiving tool in OS 10.6 it works perfectly.)

Kind regards

Martin

This is fixed in 1.0 version. I've tested with 0.1.4.2/0.1.4.3 and you were right, it asked for a password.

I will make a deep investigation so this doesn't happens again.

Thanks and sorry for the late!

Even I change the location to extract the files, the program only strategic for the same file folder. I've changed so much to custom folder (which I do not know what would be) and to ask before extracting.

New version 0.1.5b1 Works fine. In the old version I did not obtain to make to function. I find that only program lacks to a function it to stay killer, It would like to be able to compress the archives and to divide they in parts, because when I want to copy an image of dvd for mine pendrive it has that to be lesser that 4gb because of fat32, then necessary to divide it in 2 parts. I will buy in Mac App Store when version 1.5 is lauched. Thanks for your work.

Keka 1.4.1 has a major bug that keeps it from closing - not just when it's finished compressing or extracting, but all the time. The only way to shut it down is to force quit. This is one of my favorite must=have apps, but this version is a bit sickly. I'll alert its developers.

Just you and another user (via sourceforge) noticed that. It's an important bug unresolved yet, all growl click feedback goes nowhere when Keka it's not opened. I wanted to reply your mail, but there was no reply address (I have to improve the comment form!).
By the way, you're running Keka in a Leopard OS?

Thanks for your feedback!

Running 10.6.5 on a fairly modern 2.4 GH Unibody Aluminum MacBook and a 1st gen Core2Duo 2.16 GH iMac. The problem manifested the same on both. Thanks again for your quick response, not to mention keeping Keka free!
