Great tool and a great update. Now has Pro Tools support and improved Adobe support. No problems encountered yet. So handy and so free--five stars. I've never had to use the author's repair tools, but wouldn't hesitate to buy them should the need arise.

Download link downloads Pro_Maintenance not Preference Manager. Go to developer’s website for this.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention Sgginc. Pro Maintenance also includes Preference Manager which is why there was some confusion. I've updated the listing so that it now points directly to Preference Manager :)

Does what it advertises to do (backup/delete/restore prefs).

However, the "Restoring the window layout" issue persists.

Only effects 10.6.8 users...does not effect Lion users.

The window layout in FCPX is not stored in the preference files. Housekeeper in Pro Maintenance Tools can fix this:

Yes as I stated in my post over at the FCPX page, Apples solution does not work for our users. Does your tool delete the same folder? http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4169

Yes, it uses the same method Apple recommends.

Thanks for confirming. Excellent tool, unfortunately this issue persists even after following standard troubleshooting steps, including additional steps recommended by Apple support. Apple asked us to open RADAR bug ticket, waiting for further steps.

It would be helpful if the developer renamed this product "Final Cut Preference Manager". The current name infers that it deals with all preference files on the Mac which is confusing.

Implies. You can infer something, but FCP can only imply.

I agree that this nice app should be renamed to something that includes the words “Final Cut” in some form, preferably at the beginning. As I have with similarly associated apps for iMovie, iPhoto and iTunes, unless this is renamed, I’ll either forget that it exists or get frustrated and never use it because I can’t remember its name!

And yes, I am aware that I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
