Guitar and bass tablature editor.

Overview

Tablatures is a guitar and bass tablature editor.

Tablatures is compatible with PowerTab, which is a well-known and widely adopted tablature editor for Windows systems. Thus you can share your music even with those members of your band that don't own a Mac! Moreover, you can easily find thousands of song transcriptions in this format on the net. Tablatures can also import most GuitarPro 3-5 tabs.

With Tablatures you can also export your tabs in MIDI format, or follow the playback on-screen to help your learning process.

What's new in Tablatures

Version 2.33:
  • If you have a system with multiple staves with different clefs/tablature types, adding a new system will properly carry those settings over to the new one
  • Update the controls in the Notes Panel correctly when switching from Hi to Low melody, or viceversa

Don't pay $60 for stuff like this. Though Guitar Pro is better in many ways for the same $60, everyone should try Tux Guitar first. Tux Guitar is a free, open-source program that also opens Guitar Pro, Power Tab, and TablEdit files and is very fully capable with all sorts of features. I don't know why it isn't listed in MacUpdate. Tux Guitar is excellent though not perfect. But it is FREE and great.

Seconded. Tux Guitar () has nearly every conceivable tablature need covered; don't spend a dime until you've tried it first!

i dont see how Guitar Pro 6 is bloated. for YOUR purposes maybe. but that doesnt mean your assessment is accurate for EVERYONE'S purposes. i just got the trial version so i'm just messing with it. but i do a lot of recording with Logic and i used to with Reason and i'm finding that this thing is set up to run just like those 2 programs. and for the record those are 2 historic and ground breaking programs for home and project studio use. so i GET GP6 and how it operates AND I LIKE how it operates. cuz i write and record lots of songs on the regular for myself and other bands. GP6 is FULL-LOADED in my opinion - not"bloated". there's a ton of stuff on there that YOU DONT NEED OR DONT KNOW HOW TO USE - OR DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT ITS FOR. doesnt mean the app is crap or bloated. if u like simple and dont plan on writing multiple scores and plan using SOLELY A TAB EDITOR (ie only want to write tabs for one guitar at a time - and only use it get ideas down), then yes, GP6 is not for you. but dont go crapping on it cuz ur use for it is limited. it is a pretty sick program from what i've seen so far. bro, keep it real. dont just bitch to bitch. word...

@voodootrips nobody here said that Guitar Pro was bloated. Why are you replying with that statement?

All I said was that Tux Guitar is great because it is free/libre/open software, better for the community than proprietary software.

Too bad it hasn't seen much development in while. Musescore version 2 is coming soon and that has guitar tab and Guitar Pro support too.

I think people should prefer free/libre/open software. I didn't say the proprietary software was bloated.

No good when Tux Guitar has not been updated for years and apparently rely on an old version of Java and just does not work on Mac anymore... Anybody knows if there are any plans of updating to recent versions of OS?

Please explain - "Does better" at what? GuitarPro: A pretty steep price of $60. Other people claim Guitar Pro is bloated. There is a price point beyond which its not worth it to me. However, if I can't test drive software to assess it, then I'm expected to buy a pig in a poke & I don't care to do that, thanks very much. Software will not improve anyone's playing. You still have to do that on your own.

It seems good! I've been waiting for a tab editor forever. I've used GuitarTab X (abandonware) which wasn't that great but it got the job done. I'll use this for a while and probably buy it. I can't stand Guitar Pro because it is one of the most bloated programs of all time. Thank for this!
