3.7

Get your website listed in all major search engines.

Overview

Sitemap Automator helps get your website listed in all major search engines by automatically telling search engines about all the pages on your website.

Using XML Sitemaps, an open protocol used by all major search engines, Sitemap Automator will make sure Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask.com know where to find your website. In addition, you get important submission feedback including reasons why your website could not be added to a search engine's index.

Sitemap Automator will also:

  • Find all broken links on your website
  • Set extended url data such as frequency, priority, and last modified dates
  • Remembers url data when rescanning websites so it doesn't have to be re-entered
  • Set automated rules to automatically set url data
  • Fully supports robot.txt files
  • Automatically strip specified variables from urls
  • Notify Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask.com when your sitemap is updated
  • Properly splits up large sitemaps and creates a sitemap-index file

I've always considered Sitemap Automator a "must have" application. It has paid for itself over and over again as a quick and convenient way to create, update and submit sitemaps. This should be done every time updates to a website are published and I know there are occasions when I would have skipped this step if it wasn't for the automator. The ability to trace broken links has been on my wish list for some time. I've had a couple of messed up links on a large site that have been bugging me for months. With this latest update I tracked them down in a matter of minutes.

Great app, makes life much easier. One major flaw (on OSX 10.6.8 anyway), connecting took ages and failed most of the times. Support seems to regard that as normal. Support forum has been down since I purchased the app by the way....

Our support forum hasn't been down. What is your ticket ID so I can clarify what happened. Connecting shouldn't take ages or fail ever.

After exchanging about twelve emails, this was the last response I received (ticket number VYR-758-64007): ************* Okay. Well, 1.5 minutes is not a very long time. Most of the time could be from just connecting to the server. And then the upload depends on the upload speed you get. The crashes that you sent in are not from bugs in the software. They are crashes occurring from your computer. *********** There were two entries in the forum about the upload problem, but these were locked, so I entered one myself. Immediately after that, I was not allowed access to the forum anymore, and I am now still not allowed to do anything on the forum. Not very reassuring all in all.... best regards, Martin

I will of course respond to your email and give you access to my ftp account to try and solve this problem - as I did before - but first I would like to be granted free access to the forum. Thanks, Martin

I found Sitemap Automator easy to instal and use. It has a very clean and intuitive design. It made the creation of a sitemap a total breeze. I am new to this product but am impressed with the ease of use and simple integration with both my host site and search engines.

Hi, It downloads a disk image that is downloaded to the same folder as your Sitemap Automator application. The disk image is mounted and should appear on your screen automatically so all you have to do is drag it to your Applications folder, replacing the current version you have. Please make sure the current version you have installed is not running when you install the new version.

Update to my previous review (MacUpdate does not allow me to edit my previous writings): 1. FTP settings ARE remembered now for a website as stated. It was just not solved the way I expected it; so I did not discover it until now. 2. Developer says that Website Listing (the Menu) will be revised in a future update. Let's hope that this day will be soon.. Since I need to give a new rating, I update my rating to a 4.

If you hab to maitain only a very few websites, the software works allright and would be 5 stars normally). But if you have 50+ Websites to maintain, to give an example, the software makes live complicated. A. It is not possible to edit the entries in the "Websites" menu, so this can be a wild mix of "http://www.domain.com", "www.domain.com", "domain.com". That confuses the sorting and makes finding a domain difficult. Why not making an editable field so that one can streamline those entries later on wighout having to delete a site and start all over again. B. The FTP-Info is not linked to the domain. So after you successfully found and updated the sitemap for a domain you have to search an independet FTP-list that contains EVERY entry ever stored to find the right FTP-account for the domain in question. 2 Stars for not keeping the promise to fix that.

A. If you have scanned your website you cannot change the URL. The reason is because a domain with www. and without www. is considered to be two different domains by the Sitemap protocol. You shouldn't be able to change domains once they are scanned, there would be no use for that. If you haven't scanned a URL yet, you can edit it. B. This feature has been available since version 2.0 released in January.

Dear developer, thanks for commenting. You are certainly correct about the URLs. I am aware of that. I would be perfectly fine if the "REAL" url would be stored somewhere". But I don't think that it is wise to use the "REAL" url also as menu for the mentioned accessibility reasons. - I try to contact you now via your support system directly.

I've been using sitemap automator for a while now and must say I am quite pleased with it. before, I would upload and submit my sitemaps manually and it took me a very long time. especially since I have several different websites. sitemap automator saves me a bunch of time, and I find it extremely easy to use.

Hi Greg, Send your site over to me at http://www.ragesw.com/support/ and I will get this fixed for you ASAP. It is probably due urls being redirected improperly or in a way that RAGE Google Sitemap Automator does not understand.
