This is a good aid for practicing the art of relaxation & meditation, or just giving yourself a timeout from the kids, or the boss. The website has about 25 or so environments that can be purchased in addition to the 26 in this package. You can see previews of these on their website.
As a chronic pain sufferer I find that this is good for practicing relaxation, self hypnosis, meditation, etc. The visuals are beautiful and the corresponding sounds are realistic. There are evenings when I would much rather have this in the background than the TV (or maybe even play this on the TV). It is also a good tool for those who need to control breathing (ie emphysema).
The program leaves a small icon on the menu bar, which gives the option of: Turn on/off, Preferences, Open Scene Store, & Hide Desktop Icons. When off it uses 3% of system resources, and when on uses 16%, which I suppose is ok because theoretically you would not be using this simultaneously with other programs.
There is also an "Automatic Serenity" feature when can be set up to remind you to take a break; it can turn on the program at a specific time for a specific period. For anyone who needs to add serenity to their life, this is a worthwhile program.
Feature Suggestion: Although in preferences you can choose the cycling period for the various scenes, I would like to see a choice in the menu bar to advance to the next scene, if for some reason, I'm not in the mood for the one that is playing.
