Cheetah3D overview

Cheetah3D is a lean, fast, and elegant 3D modeling, rendering, and animation package with an easy learning curve. It was written from ground up in Cocoa and offers many powerful tools like subdivision surface modelling, joint based character animation system, morph targets, UV unwrapping, texture painting, PDF import, HDRI, radiosity, renderings, etc.

The ability to extend Cheetah3D with JavaScripts and support for many common file formats rounds out its feature set.

I found Cheetah 3D more difficult to use than Maya. I've bought a tutorial from the Cheetah 3D's site, yet it doesn't explain how to create faces... At leasts it seems very difficult to get as good result as the one you can get from Maya. Of course, the price is more cheaper but it doesn't justify why it is more difficult to use. When you buy applications similar to Adobe Illustrator such as Sketch, there are very similar feature that allow us to use the applications easily without tweaking hours and try to find a way to get the result we expect. Nevertheless, this app is very promising and the design i saw from people using it are quite satisfying... it's not an application for beginner... You'll need time to master it... and there are not so many free tutorial that teach you how to use it... Try it before buying it...

I've used Cheetah3D for about 10 hours now and am particularly impressed that, even with the complex relationships that it must be maintaining between objects, 'Undo' has never given an unexpected result and the thing has never raised an exception or crashed. The design must be very well thought out.
