I wish they actually wrote abou the new features instead of giving us useless advertising copy in the "Whats New" . "it's the most flexible Pro Tools software ever!" Does that mean it has taken gymnastics? "a revolutionary new way to work with Pro Tools®" Did they change the user interface and work flow? "more systems and creative options" What are they? What is a creative option? "I need more orange?" "all-new music creation tools" Such as...? What a bunch of fluff. Digidesign, please keep the copywriters away from technical specifications please.

This update does not show up when I click "check for update" from Protools 10.3.2, and it doesn't appear on their site, AFAIK.

I used to use Pro Tools until I mastered Audacity, which is free.

Audacity is OK, but not on the same level as PT. So you are giving Pro Tools three starts because it's not free?

Audacity is really in a different category of audio editor than Pro Tools so it's folly to compare the two.

What you did is like downrating a Porsche 911 because Volkswagon sell sedans for 1/5th the price of a 911.

I prefer Cubase over ProTools. I have both. Audacity is certainly a great tool for someone that wants to do bare bones multitrack work and can't afford something more. So it's better than nothing. :)

It should be noted that the $299.00 price listed above is for an upgrade from PT 9. For people like me who had PT 7 MP, it's $499.00! The upgrade prices from 7 to something that runs in Lion was more than I paid for ProTools M Powered to start with! I like PT, but I think I'll stick with Cubase.

The first time I've heard about version ten was because of the new Souncloud feature, which is probably the most stupid and useless idea they ever had... Except for that, it's a must have (I won't compare it to Logic, Cubase or else, it basically depends on your habits, but I'm keen to think that for audio editing, nobody beats ProTools. Apparently, someone at Avid has just recalled Digidesign once created a page here. ;-D I won't make a complete review, I'm a faitfhful user (think: the first version I've used was 4.3, if I recall well and it fitted on a floppy!!!), so it's hard to say something bad about ProTools as it has got better and better through the years. The only boring thing I see, at my level, is the iLok key: luckily, some plugin developper are getting rid of it, and you can also make a good job with the provided plugins (which was not the case a few years ago). Still being a version 7/8 user, I'm stuck to my Mbox2 interface, but now with this version, you should be able to use any one, which is a huge revolution.

Did they finally fix the "have to be admin to run it"-madness? That is THE gripe I have with version 6.x of this program.
