Streamlined bookkeeping and accounting system.

Overview

TinyBooks Pro is a simple, flexible, non-bloated, single-entry bookkeeping and accounting system for the Mac. TinyBooks Pro is designed for sole proprietors, home and other small businesses, and family finances. Unlike many tax-related programs, TinyBooks Pro does not have to be re-purchased year after year. TinyBooks Pro can easily help you with your taxes this year and in years to come.

TinyBooks Pro is the simplest way to handle the books for most small companies. Just enter your expenses and income, and TinyBooks Pro does the rest. Current and year-to-date on-the-fly totals are continually displayed. Fully automatic bar-charting of all expense and income accounts make the determination of monthly trends intuitively obvious.

Features
  • Fully non-modal reports and transaction search window
  • Expense, income, and special mileage entry forms
  • Quarterly and full-year bottom-line reports
  • Professional invoice printer
  • Intuitive support for handling virtually any kind of taxes from any country

I tried this app once. Sort of ok, but it is physically too small and fiddly and pokey and it's hard to find where you can see all the data you have entered. And you have to manually select what kind of entry you are making as you are doing it. Also if I recall everything seemed to be hardwired to the US currency and way of doing things. The are loads of these sorts of apps. Too many probably and overpriced. Small business or not I think it is easier to just write up accounts in any spreadsheet app like Open Office or Neo Office where you are much more hands on with everything and can easy make graphs and do a whole load of stuff with the data as well as just book keeping.

Hi, - Would it make a year-end balance sheet? - Would it be good for a very small business but incorporated (Canada)?

I've been using this stable, simple bookkeeping software since 2007. Not flashy, no eye candy --- just reliable updates that continue to make this no-frills application the workhorse of my business accounting system.

-- Will not work on PPC-based Macs. Intel-only. Previous versions / releases (before "Pro") were Universal Binary and worked on old (G3, G4, G5) & new (Intel) Macs.

Ditto on having a nicer interface, but it's nice that this is so simple to use and WORKS... I'm self employed and it works great for me, easy to customize and author has lots of workarounds... but please, pretty it up, after all it's on a Mac!

Would be great if the author update the interface to make the GUI more presentable

A well done app. Pretty simple and not flashy by any means. Even does invoice printing! I've been using the demo in Leopard and haven't had any problems on my old Quicksilver G4. Would love to see a more intuitive autofill feature for fields that are used repetitively. If there was a way to NEVER use the mouse, it would make for a speedy accounting app. Overall, if you need to get your financial data in order and be able to access it easily, TinyBooks is a solid choice.

To reply to the notes about non-mouse navigation, Personal Accountz sems to have got this about right - an excellent progam to boot.

I have found this little app irreplaceable. I work with a few clients who need very simple accounting and this app fits the bill perfectly. Of course there are some things that I'd like to be different, but for $49 I can get clients to be entering all their own reciepts regularly instead of the year end panic that they usually experience. Its simple, intuitive, and no frills. Just what I need.
