What's New

Version 7.0:
  • A new tool to create bridges, overpasses, and tunnels when you draw roads.
  • New tree tools let you place individual trees along city roads. This tool is located at the end of the Nature Parks menu.

Was really surprised to see this run on an old MacPro, but it did beautifully. Only a few glitches, mostly with the tutorials. So, for those not sure if it will run, here are some specs that do run, and they run great here.

MacPro 2,1 2x 3.0GHz., 16GB ram, ATI 5770 (1GB) with 2x 24" screens.

The game is worth it, despite the trials and tribulations getting it to market.

Has anyone gotten this to run on an older MacPro with good specs (good video card HD5770, ram, etc).

I believe it can be played both on and offline so this shouldn't be an issue. Still looks like we've got our standalone game!

According to EA's website you must be connected to the internet at all times to play it as it uses the cloud to play and save your game. However the answer was written before the Mac version was released. Nevertheless, unless someone can actually has it can confirm that it will run in single user mode without an internet connection, it is a deal breaker for me as I do not want to be dependent on EA's servers long term or give them an opening to "explore" the App's and files on my computer.

Agreed. I won't buy a game that requires an Internet connection—especially a continuous one. It's one thing to do a one-time online activation and quite another to require a connection. Doesn't matter how good the game is supposed to be. Hopefully EA will fix this.

To Abbott: While I congratulate you on your optimism, given EA's historic attitude towards their customers I would not count on it. Instead I suspect they goal is to use it as a platform to "encourage" fee based enhancements and possibly forced fee based updates.
