Quit using TotalFinder because of slow loading and frequent system crashes. TotalFinder was a few iterations ago so don't know if they've fix these problems. But why tempt it when XtraFinder has similar features, is free and is very stable on OS X 10.9.4? Great program - makes the finder what it should be!

"Reset Preferences" and "Restart XtraFinder" do not show up in the Finder > XtraFinder > Tools menu, only in the menu of the Menu Bar Icon.

Well i got caught up in all the hype here and went ahead an installed.

Lost my desktop.

Had to restart.

Obviously this app has some serious bugs and perhaps not ready for primetime use.

I can't help but wonder why this happened to you, Wts, when no-one else here seems to have that problem. Do you think it may be something at your end?

Perhaps you should take the time to contact the dev and discuss your issue with him. In the end it'll be worth the effort, I can assure you from experience.

I agree with Kobalt.

There is a warning to NOT install or update whilst you are doing something else in Finder, that's commonsense, but what's common about commonsense?

I've been using XtraFinder on all 4 of my Macs since this application's initial release. I've never had any problems with it - not even once.

I can't say that. It has dropped off the twig a few times and stopped working, but a simple restart fixes it, and I haven't had even that lately.

I'm an asshole, can't help :-)
I give ONLY 4 and half stars to PUSH this BRILLIANT developer to keep striving to make it THE BEST (and I hope that Apple, in a rare moment of policy wisdom, will price him including all his efforts to make its Finder -by EVER one of the slowest evolving parts of its OS- better and better!).
Yes, for sure there are still some little bugs and could be faster and-and but… WHAT A GREAT GEM!
A 'Must Have', no ways!

Small issue:
If i have 2 pares of panes joined (4 tabs (A.B,C,D), all of them are joined in 2 pairs in 2-pane view e.g .A-B and C-D), when i move a file from 1st 2-pane (A-B) to 2nd 2-pane (C-D) it doesn't allow me to move the document to a specific tab. The arrow will show where the panes are joined, but wouldn't show specific pane. I want to move document from pane A to pane D. If I do that, document will end up in pane C instead of pane D.

This is hard to describe but I can do a video if required.

In Finder, by double clicking on any parent folder in the PATH (bottom of the Finder window) the specific folder opens. In XtraFinder clicking on the path doesn't do anything.
Am I missing something in the configuration?

I apologize.
It does actually work. But only after I restarted Finder. That's odd. I didn't even need to restart XtraFinder to get this working again.
False alarm. Ignore this item.

You're working hard to contribute to develop this gem so… better to make a mistake and apologise than be 'indifferent' ;-)

Works ok on 10.9.3. Because a user below reported issues, I wait with update to 10.9.4. I noticed the latest July 9 update fixed the crashing of XtraFInder on 10.9.3. Perhaps same crashing was fixed on 10.9.4. I wait for more people to confirm it works before I do system update. I could live without the double pane view, but not without color icons and color labels. I hope not all Apple engineers are stubborn.

I noticed two issues on 10.9.3 however and XtraFInder:

1. Restarting Finder using menu in XtraFinder causes the XtraFinder to crash and needs to be restarted.

2. If 2 finder panels are side by side (with right panel side bar hidden either through options in XtraFinder or through hiding it manually), I can't resize the left panel at all. I can resize it to become bigger than right panel but I can't make left panel narrower than right panel, it doesn't let me to.

I should clarify, actually the size of panes can't be changed in either way. I wish XtraFinder would provide ability to resize the two panes in either way in 2 pane window.

Colours in the sidebar
I LLOVE your 'foolish REAL Mac-fan attitude'; without people like US, 'refreshing the memory' of these guys leading now Apple from Cupertino to Wall Street, that the visionar attitude of Steve who mesmerised us, was based on BEAUTY, harmony, 'waste of resources' to make our working environment a nice place for living, not a hospital, a prison or -worst!- an… OFFICE!
By the way, there are by time ways to have back our colours (just in the sidebar of the finder, still not in the 'open' windows and -sob!- not in Mail nor the going to be worst and worst iTunes!), but already the fact that Tran Ky Nam putted it as a priority, an 'il va sans dire', shows his intelligent taste and REAL 'Mac imprinting'!
Something lost by the new MicroBrain-like followers, loosing a battle after the other and reducing yea after year the immense advantage left to them as heritage by Steve!
