Backgammon Deluxe Free! is a wonderful version of one of the oldest two player dice board games. Players win by removing all of their pieces from the board. Although luck is involved and factors into the outcome, strategy plays a more important role in the long run. Play against the computer or with a friend. This is a great family game!

I wish it would keep score between me and the computer. And it would be nice if it would note when a player has been gammoned or backgammoned.

After playing this game for several days, I can tell you it is an ego-booster. Playing at the "hard' level, I beat this game all to hell. It is VERY rare it ever beats me. I've gammoned and backgammoned this sucker so many times. The AI behind this game is extremely weak. It doesn't even know the proper move when it gets a 6 and a 5 as an opening roll. It's like playing against my 5 year old nephew. Sure hope it gets some real guts so it can provide a challenge.

This is very poor.

BGBlitz is the Gold Standard. It is incomparable.

nice, but...
I'd like some little things/improvements:
- possibility to end the game if it's clear you win or loose,
- possibility to select more stones at once (for doubles)
- more speed when changing player's turn
- play using keyboard

Not bad at all, I've been wanting a free backgammon game for a long while. I'm not an advanced player, never tried to learn how to use the doubling cube, but this game is pretty good. I do dislike having to jump through hoops (App Store) to get something free though.

BGBlitz comes in three versions, and one is free.

Don't know how it compares with this one, but I like it better than David's/Absolute or other Mac backgammon games I have such as Hoyle and Big Bang.

I could not find the free version of BGBlitz at the developer's site.

I think that the download is the same for all versions. Paying $23 or $46 will unlock additional features.
