TimePreserver is a new tool in the battle to keep data safe; an ever more important job for home, student and SOHO users as more precious data - from photos to term reports - is stored on computer. It is designed to complement Time Machine/Time Capsule backup with "offsite" backup protecting the Time Machine/Capsule user from Time Capsule failure, damage or loss.
TimePreserver's place in the backup arsenal: There are many tools for backup, and each has it place. For home, student flat and SOHO users high-end backup solutions like Retrospect is usually overkill. When there
What's New
Version 1.4.2:
Update to add support for rare/unusual disks whose declared capacity is less than their free space: Disks which report more free space than capacity might normally be assumed to be corrupt; however there are some disks which under-report their capacity (a "feature") and hence give rise to this unusual situation.Previous versions of TimePreserver would not use such disks, this version allows them on a per-disk user-choice basis. When there are multiple Macs backed up to a shared Time Capsule a TimePreserver-based system requires just one disk, while clone-based backup solutions requires one per Mac. TimePreserver keeps your data under your control and requires no internet connection or bandwidth, unlike internet based backup solutions.
