Version 2.9.4:
On File Change:
Introduce Real Time Sync (On File Change) that speeds up incremental syncing.
You can turn it On in Tools -> Program Options -> New File System Monitoring, and restart.
Real Time Sync trusts changes reported by File System and does not perfom Full Analyze.
Fix old style File Monitoring: prevent cycling by turning off monitoring when dependent jobs run.
GSTP: fixed problems in downloading locked files from GSTP server.
Fix opening two handles for upload of local files. Now only one handle is opened.
Activation: fix license was not re-read after activation.
Fix Cleanup _saved_ folder after Sync, it was not always cleaning up.
Reconnect: fix reconnect on lost/restored connection for FTP and Windows FS.
WebDAV/SSL: allow TLS v1 connections, if server does not accept SSL v3.
S3: Setting MIME type is now done by post-copy file processing.
Improve error passing and processing, to better detect Disconnect and Disk Full.

At first glance GoodSync seemed an excellent solution. I could've easy named it the best folder synchronization software available for mac. But after doing some testing I decided to remove it from my computer. In area of backup and synchronization - I require a software that is more than reliable. Meanhwile, GoodSync has some major issues with properly handling folders & files operations! I do not know whether these arise from some minor bugs in selection/deselection/context/pointer handling - but it resulted in removal of files and folders I had never wished to remove! Actually I didn't even touch those files in comparison results nor tried to sync them. Thank you, author, for _saved_ folder as I could recover missing files. But such an unpredicted behaviour is much unacceptable to me. :-(
Other issues:
- when select a few items and pick "delete right file" only first (?) of selected items is actually removed (or maybe GoodSync removed then the other items I had later found in _saved_ folder?)
- expand/collapse state of folders is not maintained between operations; this is frustrating
- unable to apply default auto-resolution of conflicts when job is not done in schedule - must decide for every item
- the interface is incredibly slow; after comparing a few thousand files I decided to apply "copy to right" rule for all about 600 conflicting items selected at once - the program hanged forever
But all those above is - i must say this once again - nothing in comparison to the unpredictable file handling issue.
Great program with some advanced features! We use goodsync specifically because it can connect with Amazon S3 shares which as far as I know, none of the other leading backup products on Mac can do.
We work at a Post Production house and needed something that could backup our project files offsite. We have filters set to only backup certain file types, and back them directly to a S3 account.
The only problem/bug so far is that when closing the preferences window (for a selected backup job) the email notification settings are lost. This is definitely a big issue, as most people who would need the features of GoodSync, will also want email notifications on success and failures. However we have still purchased the program as its benefits outweigh this one bug (which im sure will be fixed soon)
(Running on 10.7.1)
(I also use this personally on my PC and it works flawlessly)
Reading the FAQ at the developer's site, I would call this a demo or trial ware not a free ware! The site itself offer you to download the trial version ...
Yeah, it's a bit misleading but you can use GoodSync for free as long as you have 3 or less jobs that process 100 or fewer files (according to their webpage). I'm trying it out and am liking that it syncs between my local computer and my FTP server (to keep my Aperture library and my ZenPhoto photo album in sync).
When closing the preferences window (for a selected backup job) the email notification settings are lost... Have tested this on two different computers one running 10.6 the other 10.7. Thus far the support team haven't been very helpful and this has been going on for over 1 month now.
Basically, you cant get email notifications after jobs complete AT ALL.
