I can't connect to my other mac over the network.

"Which device would you like to sync?" I choose another Mac.

I Type its name, just as it shows in my network connections, I type my password as usual.

I "Continue"

and get: "Can't connect."

Whereas ChronoSync finds and syncs the other Mac just fine.

There can be several reasons of this issue. The most common is that SyncMate was not installed on your second Mac (the latest versions of SyncMate must be installed on both Macs).

Try to connect your second Mac using the following instruction http://wiki.eltima.com/user-guides/syncmate-macos/synchronization-with-mac.html

Have you contacted our Support for tech assistance prior to commenting here? Your problem can be easily solved by our Support team, you only need to drop them a line at support@eltima.com

I downloaded this software because it mentions I could share internet connection with my WindowsMobile device from WM to MAC, but while trying to connect, it mentions: Windows Mobile device have a self-assigned IP adress and won't connect.

What should I do? Software does not suggest solutions...

Don, SyncMate allows sharing Internet in one direction only - from Mac to Windows Mobile device. All you need to do is connect your mobile to your Mac via USB and Interent will be shared between Mac and Windows Mobile.

I admittedly have way too many devices and just thinking about synching my mac with just one of them made me think of happier thoughts such as my dentist appointment. But having come across syncmate for my mac I can now say that synching all my devices doesn't cause me the slightest bit of dread or thought as it is all taken care of after an initial set-up. I'm not very technically inclined but the interface made sense and I picked things up pretty quickly. Brilliant.

Hi and sorry for the delay in replying, our Support representative has already sent email to you.

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that SyncMate works only with default Mac Mail.app application for notes synchronization. Notes+ is third party application and its support is not stated in SyncMate features list.

Hope this information was clear enough. Feel free to ask if you have any further questions concerning our products.

Looks promising but lacks 2 basic features (in my opinion)
- SyncMate doesn't seem to handle addresses (and miscellaneous informations) from Address Book (Mac -> Nokia).
- "iCal" tab doesn't allow to select the calendars you want to sync or not.

Please, find my comments below.

1. Problems with Address Book sync.

Due to the peculiarities of Nokia S40 platform it is allowed to sync only the following fields for contacts from Address Book on your Mac: First Name, Last Name, Phone (max 5 numbers per contact) and Email (max 5 emails per contact).

2. Problems with iCal sync.

In fact SyncMate allows choosing which calendars to sync:) The problem is that Nokia S40 devices do not allow to have several calendars, all your data is stored in one general calendar. And of course, SyncMate syncs it as one calendar and doesn't separate events.

Anyway, would be better to contact our Support team at support@eltima.com and describe the situation as we cannot provide solutions without knowing details of the problems you've faced.

1. I guessed there was something like that. Nevertheless my previous plugin for iSync used a workaround against that limitation : addresses were transferred as generic "notes" for each contact.

2. I'm sorry, I took a look again at the iCal pane and I don't see any option allowing to choose which calendar will be synced. There is no "Sync only selected calendars" in the drop down menu as described in the online help. It's not a problem for me if all the events on the mac are stored in one generic calendar on the phone. The problem is that I've subscribed to several calendars from friends and coworkers on iCal, but I don't need to sync them on the phone. Well at least it was possible to do something like this with iSync.

I will try to contact the support team.

Since my wife, who currently has a Mac that can’t be upgraded to Lion, is going to lose her MobileMe account this summer, I’ve been shopping around for alternative syncing solutions she can use. Syncmate looks like a very good possibility for syncing her contacts and calendars. But in its present form it has one serious program: it can only sync with portable devices when they are tethered to a Mac by a USB cable, so that this is no improvement over Apple’s old pre-iIS 5 iTunes solution. There is an urgent need for the developers of Syncmate to put out a matching iOS app. that allows untethered syncing over a wireless LAN. At that time (and at that time only) Syncmate will become a formidable and highly useful product. Until then, as they say, it’s “not ready for prime time.”

Read what I said, dolt. My wife owns an iPod Touch, not an Android device. After MobileMe goes down a whole lot of people who own Macs too old to upgrade to Lion, or who can’t or won’t upgrade to Lion, are going to be scapping around for a way to sync contacts and calendars to their iOS mobile devices.

B. Pros
What I like about SyncMate is that it provides possibility to sync lots of devices with my Mac (I have blackjack samsung, Galaxy tab, MBP and Mac mini and the necessitiy to keep data in them up to date is crucial). And the best in SyncMate is that data can be synced automatically - that's really awesome!

C. cons
I do not like its interface...Come on, eltima, this is an app for Mac and it should look like an app for Mac:) What else I do not like is that I cannot sync in background. Autosync option is nice, but a little bit cripple without the possibility to sync in background.

D. Summary
Despite interface and impossibility to sync in background, I like SyncMate. It has made my life really easier. I like that I do not need to enter the same contact or event on all my devices (this was a real headache before) and can sync them. It was not easy for me to understand its functionality until I've read the user-guide and test different features checking each step in manual or contacting tech support. But now everything works like a charm.

I found SyncMate when I got fed up with Missing Sync. I would like to see a few more features in future versions of SyncMate, but I won't hold that against them because for the price, the software is fantastic as it is. It's super easy to use, very stable, and the support and development staff is friendly and responsive. They do a great job with communicating upcoming features and they put out updates regularly.

I've been using this software for a month or so with our two new Nokia models that are unsupported on iSync.

However, just noticed that Image Capture is no longer seeing my card reader or any cameras.

After a lot of troubleshooting (complete OS install), have found this software to be the cause of this.

Has anyone else had this problem?

@ WILLOWMAC -

Please, try to perform the following:

1. Connect your camera to your Mac and make sure that your camera is in PictBridge mode.

2. Launch ImageCapture manually and see if your camera is recognized. Please, let us know the result(support @ eltima . com).

3. If ImageCapture doesn't recognize your device even after you launch ImageCapture manually, please, try to disable USB module in SyncMate while working with ImageCapture ("Enable/Disable USB module" button in SyncMate preferences - http://wiki.eltima.com/user-guides/syncmate-mac-os/main-menu.html)

Thank you.

I can't get SyncMate to recognise my imate JAMin.
If I connect the JAMin via USB while Syncmate is open, nothing happens, as if it doesn't recognise it at all.

But if Synmcate isn't open when I connect the JAMin via USB, the system seems to recognise a windows mobile device and Syncmate automatically opens.

But like in the first instance, after Syncmate opens nothing else happens, as if the phone wasn't connected at all.

And in both cases the phone doesn't do anything at all (other than start charging via USB)

Still searching around for a fix but if anyone knows, advice would be appreciated!
