But … this functionality is available via freeware so the price is an outrage !
Even easier - Bring up spotlight in Finder by tapping Control/Space Bar then just type the first few letters of the application you wish to launch and hit return.
Don't really think it's trying to compete with Quicksilver. Does just a few things, fairly well IMHO, without the (to me) rather steep QS learning curve.
