If you try VLC there is various settings for this and you'll see it defaults to 100.
I use it all of the time but the PPC version of VLC has problems with it.
But I can agree with you that it would be better to have a dedicated app, this one is for teletext general purpose.

N.B.: the other channels I was talking about are the ones we can get here in France, through our internet providers, I don't know about the other countries. Every tv channel is at an internet address such as rtsp://mafreebox.freebox.fr/fbxtv_pub/stream?namespace=1&service=204&flavour=sd (it depends on the provider). How they use teletext for this purpose, I don't know...
To read a stream you would have to make a completly new application. This widget can only display publicly available teletext pages.

Before digital came in, it was a nice way to get subtitles on your tv.

Use 2.0.6 for viewing SF channels (http://oxorr.com/downloads/teletext2.0.6.zip?mu) until they succeed.

The ZDT-teletext is at http://www.zdf.de/ZDFtext/master.html available (unfortunately ZDF is flash so its useless for the iphone :-(( ).
