This is a simple app but is indispensable for me. As a designer, I'm visual when it comes to organizing my graphic files, fonts, stock photos, etc. The containing folders serve me better by a visual icon rather than text and while I use FolderBrander for client/job names on folders, I use Telling Folders for much of the rest.
- Drag a Font file preview on top of the app and it will show as icon for that font family's folder.
- Pull a logo from a site as the folder icon for files from that company or client.
- Make a marquee screen shot of whatever and use it as folder icon.
- Album folders in my music collection will get the cover art on them.
Lastly, it handles transparency so png's will work and not be stuck with a square border icon.

Does not seem to work with 10.6 snow leopard.
The "folder" icon does not show up, just the application icon only.
Also can we get this automated so that when you drop an application onto it will automatically change the parent folder to the new folder icon?

Thanks, great app

Its been over a year since I picked up this app and I still find myself using it and appreciative that its quick, easy and free.

I've never had it lock up or cause any problems.

Having changed my folder appearances a couple of time this app made it easy to make those changes. About the only thing I wish it would do is export the image into an icon for use with CandyBar.

fantastic little application, i've been looking for something like this for ages. so SIMPLE! i've been snagging a few images here and there and using instant alpha in preview to clean up the backgrounds

i think the only way you could improve on this is to add some kind of masking feature to make images like the os original folder icons

This little application is perfect!

Excellent when wanting to identify your folder with its respective Application. For instance, I used it to to attach the Garageband icon to my Garageband folder.

It also works with Finder generated previews for a given file, which for me becomes the most useful part.

Thanks!

Works great, I've been wanting a few custom folders and this did the trick, quick easy and most of all it just works!

Even snagged the MU logo, cut it down, removed the background and applied to the folder I kept with all the software from the last MU Promo!

Thanks!
