What's New
Version 7.1.4:

Enhancements:

  • In the administration console the account's Contact Information page now includes fields for Fax Number, and Job Title. (Bug 12253)
  • IMAP Expunge resets the new message counter. (Bug 43863)
  • A ZCS BES administrator can be assigned specific BES administrator roles by assigning these two combo rights, besAdminDomainRights and besAdminServerRights. This grants admins domain rights on each domain they access and admin server rights on each server they access. (Bug 37851)
  • Added support for charset ISO-8859-9-1. (Bug 44587)
  • ZWC UI support for Thai language (Bug 52429)
  • Apache tmp folder now uses zimbra_tmp_directory. (Bug 53183)
  • The notify filter action now supports an option to include all original headers in the notification message. (Bug 64839)
  • Active IMAP connection is dropped if zimbraUserServicesEnabled is FALSE. (Bug 65464)
  • A new delegated administrator combo right, migrationAdminRights, has been created to give an admin rights to run the migration wizards. (Bug 65227)
  • A global LDAP attribute attribute zimbraMessageIdDedupeCacheTimeout has been added to workaround de duping issues caused by clients incorrectly using the same message ID for different messages. When set to zero (default), the zimbraMessageIdDedupeCacheSize limit is used, and there is no timeout. When set to a non-zero value, the zimbraMessageIdDedupeCacheSize limit is ignored and the specified value is used as the timeout value for a message ID entry in the LMTP de dupe cache. (Bug 44564)
  • An INFO log entry is now added to audit.log when an account is re- activated from the lockout status upon successful login.

Installed this this thing out of curiosity. Can't figure out why anyone would decide to use this with its overly complex UI. Reminds me of Outlook. Can't sync calendars or contacts without Zimbra dialing Youtube. What the ----? No thank you. Bad app. In the trash you go.

I really like the newly updated Zimbra. I find it fast and the search capabilities extensive; also saved searches. I like the fact that I can right-click on a senders name in the message pane and search all messages from that sender quickly.

The last time I tried Zimbra was several months ago and I would have given it 3 stars then. But this recent update shows there's been many changes -- some nice changes.

i completely agree with Smtips. this is a horrible app. i do not get all the raving. it has been broken since v2.x when yahoo! bought out zimbra. had hopes when vmware in turn bought it from yahoo!, but other than improving the gui, not much has changed.

local mail storage is not fully recognized by the application...it's like a separate and not equal account. cannot be searched, which is pretty much the point of a database email application. saved search queries missing beaucoup messages on the server as well...which is easy to check with the web app version. tags will not migrate between server and local storage, in fact, tags will be removed when moving messages between server and local.

calendar is just plain horrendous. settings and preferences are the most convoluted i've seen in a very long time. must re-position windows and panels on each startup.

it is a constant fight with this app, which is pretty sad for email. email has been around for what now, 40 years? and these guys still can't generate an app that works for basic functionality? v7.x is prettier and faster than v1.x or v2.x ever were, but that's about the only positive thing i can say about it. pretty and fast doesn't matter much when the darn thing can't find 75% of your mail.

Horrible app. All this raving about it, I tried to put in my yahoo email and password and it just did nothing. I completely uninstalled it, reinstalled it, tried again and it didn't work just like before. Said it was unable to find yahoo LOL.

But the worst of the whole thing is, I emailed these people well over a week ago and they never responded.

I think this company is attempting to harvest emails and logins for their own use. I would definitely NOT trust a company who refuses to respond to a query about their app where you have to put in your EMAIL PASSWORD.

Beware.

Zimbra really needs to be spun back off into their own company. It is too nice an app/server for what it is getting. The increased Yahoo logo plastering is really holding them back. As long as Microsoft has partnered up with them, I just really don't see them allowing Zimbra to grow and flourish since it would put too much pressure on Exchange.

This should change now that VMWare acquired Zimbra from Yahoo.

Absolutely no response whenever I install and try to run this, except for an error in Console: "Couldn't load XPCOM."

It has taken a while to become useful, but is coming along nicely now. I still prefer Apple Mail for my day-to-day mail, but this program is less of a headache than running iCal using CalDAV on our university system.
