FunTrash is a small program that will let you have fun while trashing files!
It does a little more than Finder's 'Move to Trash' function. It shows neat animations while the files are moved to Trash. If you like it, please send me a post card.
What's New
Version 1.1:
It now uses Universal Access Service, requiring to enable "access for assistive devices".
It works for all viewing modes of Finder. (Previous version only worked with Icon View mode)
Fixed issue with the interference of command-delete key event for other applications like iPhoto.
Fixed issue with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, in which case sometimes desktop items getting moved to trash instead of actual selections from a window.

Well, it no longer deletes itself. That's worth a star.
Basically, it makes a clunky animation of a flying saucer delete files. To do this, you have to be in icon view, then you select your files, then you open this app. "Fun" commences!
No drag and drop, so it's actually HARDER to use than the regular trash (everything is a two-step process). No ability to customize the animation (I was hoping this might be a resurrection of The Grouch!), and if you just click on the program without a selection in the Finder, it gives me an error dialog.
Sweet! Just what I want! A mistaken trashing should WASTE MY TIME!
I can only hope this ends up on PerversionTracker. It would be in good company there.

Pity that site's been dead for almost two years. I haven't seen any new comments posted even..
To get back on topic, I've always been amazed at the kind of eye candy Mac users add to their machines. Even I played with "Zipples" back in the day...
In the olden days...there was a similar program. Every time you put something in the trash, Oscar the Grouch popped out and sang "I love trash." There were only two problems: Kids liked seeing the animation so much that they were basically throwing away their parents' whole hard drive! And Sesame St. of course didn't like it that they were stealing Oscar and made them stop. Oh well.
The best thing about this application is that it is free. The second best thing is that it is small.
Unfortunately, no 'read me' is included with the app file. So, if you install it in your application folder, then double click on it to see what it does - you'll find that it deletes itself. Great.
The developer page gives you actual directions, and the only way you can see an animation is if it is in the dock or app tool bar and the window is in 'icon view'. And if you select a file and click on FunTrash apparently an animation will appear. I was unable to see much when I tried this - just a blip of something appearing.
In any case, this might have some promise if the developer could make the trash can animated or something when you trash contents, and it isn't dependent on any particular view. But at this stage it's not very 'fun' or 'addictive' at all.
The app shows a little UFO coming down and abducting (trashing) whatever files you have selected in the Finder.
Notes:
•The animtion only occures if the Finder window is in icon view - not list
•f you select the app, it trashes itself. Useful for when the app gets old ;)
I thought it was at least good for one laugh - nice work. Also, it's explained on the developer's site, for those aching for a readme.
After some tinkering.. I found out how to use this. You go to the View manu and select Customize Toolbar, then you just drag it into the toolbar anywere you want it. Then it works like it should.
It would be nice for the developer to include a Read Me, explaining how to use it, insted of us trying to figure it out for our selfs.

more animations than the two supplied would be cool, a pref for the speed of the animation, and a context item or hotkey would make it much.
kinda strange to see folks complaining so much about something that is free, small, simple..
