i use adobe PS CS2, my question: what are CS people supposed to do? buy/upgrade CS or be left out???

There's some "plumbing" in CS2 that Camera Raw needs that CS doesn't have. That's why the newest Camera Raw won't work in CS.

As for Canon EOS 20D support - the 20Ds RAW files work just fine with v2.3 for those who would rather not use a beta.
