What's new in Type And Creator Changer

Version 9.1:
  • A full recompilation has been made to be compatible with High Sierra, and as Universal Binary to keep being compatible with both old (PowerPC) Macs and recent (Intel) Macs.
  • The "How to intall it?" paragraph of the documentation has been updated to explain how to install and launch the Application in particular under Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.9 Mavericks, 10.10 Yosemite, 10.11 El Capitan and 10.12 Sierra:
  • Under Mac OS 10.13 High Sierra, if you're launching the Application for the first time, maybe Mac OS X's GateKeeper (which you can configure in the "System Preferences") will refuse to launch it because you've not downloaded it from the Mac App Store (but from our website). In this case, instead of double-clicking on it, all you have to do is to right-click on the Application's icon, and then select the "Open" menu. A message will appear in which you'll be able to confirm that you want to launch the Application (even if it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store from an Identified Developer).

A rip off. Charging this much for slapping a badly written front end on somebody else's work is a disgrace. AlphaOmega software are a disgrace.

Old thieves never die; they just come back to rob you again. EVERY AplhaOmega product is poorly written, overpriced, and available elsewhere with more and better functionality and for free...often within the OS, itself. Buyer beware!

They're baaack; hold on to your wallet! AlphaOmega is a bunch of thieves who charge excessive prices for poor functionality that's usually available elsewhere...better and for less.

Now let me consider my options... I could buy this product for around $20 and get a single use utility similar to some other products that are free or donationware. I could also spend around $40 for a complete total file maintenance product, such as FileBuddy, which comes with an integrated interface, accessible by the contextual menu, that will not only change creator and filetype but fix alias's, make files and folders invisible, batch change and correct filenames, delete protected files, find duplicates, show invisibles, change security and permissions, add comments, etc., and comes with great support. Or I could choose pay this developer (Alpha Omega) around $50 and get licensed access to all of their software - including a lot of obsolete and next to useless programs, that no one else wants and I don't want either. Now which is the better value? hum-mm?

Has this boy no shame? Let's see... It's a one trick type/creator changer It's 1.1MB It's MwRB It's ugly as sin I'd be embarassed to release something with any one of those characteristics, but this fits 'em all. This whole AlphaOmega thing has got to be a scam/joke... Nobody could seriously be trying to sell such garbage.

The GUI still sucks... as does the software. Think I'll search for free alternatives which will of much better quality.

Type and Creator changers are defending a fortress that has been vacant for years. Yet AlphaOmega would expect payment for this. The OS X Finder gives you every tool you need to specify what application should open a particular document. This guy has swamped the market with twenty or more applications, and God knows if any of them are useful for ANYTHING that you should pay for. The chances are not good, from what I've seen.

and furthermore, ResEdit ;-) can change the type and creator for you if (God help you) you are still shackled to your OS 9 software.
