Version 3 should kick ass WHEN functional... Unfortunately, it isn't yet, so stick with the latest 2.5 version. To developers: forget about the cosmetic issues until the new version actually works.

This is a *preview*. I haven't tried it, but if you go to the developer's home and choose download you'll get 2.5 as the stable download...

Does not work for me either: searches do nothing. I would suggest that the "developers" spend less time on the Look & Feel and more time on getting searches and transfers to work reliably. This means you, Yves.

Thought I'd give this a spin and see if it could rival Poisoned or ACQlite. However, when I clicked on "Download Now" I got a "Not Found" page...wtf??!! So....if it's released, why isn't it available? Seriously, this should be pulled by MacUpdate until the developer can get his "stuff" together.

Version 2.5 worked fine but this version does not. I downloaded the plug-in and was able to connect to about 7 openNap servers, but when I tried to search for something it didn't do a thing. I tried many different search options but that didn't help. So I went back to version 2.5 Hope the next version becomes usable and offers an interface which looks like 2.5 and has the text fields and buttons in the same places as in 2.5

This version is for crap...going back to previous version.....Too many problems to list. Too confusing to set up.....Dunno if I'm connected or not....etc...etc....etc. For those who venture in and discover the error messages & can it back to the Developer. Do me a favor.....keep repeating the errors & send it off...maybe he'll get our fustration.

A breeze to use, packed with features - does tend to clog up, but if you limit uploads and downloads & it chews through it in the b/g. Nice going - as good as the others if not a bit easier to use.

Hi. Since I've been using this program (was 16 months ago) I got well over 5000 mp3, about 2000 short classic toons and about 20 full-length movies. I have found about 95% of what I was looking for (and I am not searching for common stuff). Learn to operate it, share a reasonnable number of files, be patient, don't saturate one's upload queue with your requests, send polite messages and the world will be your oyster (I'm speaking to the whiners here). I tried all the P2P I could find and NOTHING compares to this one in terms of search returns and successful downloads. On the minus side, there are occasionnal problems of stability with some machines and the program does not support Unicode, which make Cyrillic, accented roman and asian characters unreadable; I look forward to seeing this oversight fixed in the next version.

still the best for me - none of the others gets the rare dance/trance/house files I look for. It is however memory hungry and will fil up your scratch (?) disk slowing down everything else you do - but again, it is the only one that does the job!

incredibly stable connections once you can tap in. im starting to use this more than limewire. they have many more files (software + audio), especially the more esoteric titles--perhaps because there are more europeans using it. but make sure you have A LOT of files to share--i had to dump over 500 songs onto my hd before i could get any servers ( i think im going to burn a dvd of them + only pop that in when i'm downloading).

Trevor : It' very easy to join the "elite" : take 3 or 4 CDs out of their boxes, open ITunes, rip them (Mp3 or AAC) and SHARE. Xnap is great, simple and opennap is the best place to find music you won't find anywhere else (even on ITMS)...

I dont know what happened with this new release but I have not been able to connect to a single server since I updated. whats the point of an update if it negates the functionality of the app? Prior to updating I had a great working XNap that was sharing files nicely, polling, connecting, etc., very impressive. Now? Nothing. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions?

Program works great, but.... I guess is an "elite" no one let me download anything, since I had just download the program and had nothing to offer, some even want to kick me out, I swear I haven't say a word to deserve that treatment, II even didn't know how to chat. will someone explain why that snobish attitude?

I'm very impressed with this program. It has got me enslaved now for 3 weeks already, because the find- and download results are so impressive. It turns Opennap into a Treasurestore. A bit unstable, but MacosX can handle that.

I started off being very impressed - it finds a lot of things, but then got stuck with nothing I'd found downloading. Add to that a couple of crashes which trashed my system prefs and I'm going back to Acquisition. Interface needs work too...

Really nice, finds very fast a lot of files, more then LimeWire, Acquisition and Kazaa. downloading is also working (50k/sec first try). But i didn't think anything could be even uglier as limewire !! Man, the first thing they should fix is the look, what a pain ... Also had some trouble finding my OTHER volumes for sharing files. Had to go to "/volumes" to see my whole disk list (invisible folder on your MacOS X boot disk, eg: MacOS X/Volumes. This folder is luckily visible in the XNap open menu). Other than that it's great!! And this one is really free, and i also mean: free of banners :). Bye-bye limewire, bye-bye VPC with the Banners.. err Kazaa (stupid kazaa totally fucks up your windoze system). Acquisition may stay for now.

I tried them all since napster is dead. More or less bull****. The only way for macusers is (in my opinion) to run virtual pc windows and kazaa lite. That rocks!

This is the ONLY Mac program I can rely completely on to find good music to download. Finds tons of results, doesn't crash, and the interface is both easy to use and full-featured. Unfortunately, the last few 2.4 pre-X versions of this seem to have less success downloading than earlier ones. Can't beat the price though, especially with Acquisition going shareware and MacPhex being totally useless. Yeah, I've used Neo, and I'm amazed it actually works as well as it does, but it's just too awkward for regular use.

Staying with Beta 2 & holding! I tried beta 3 & 4....I see it launch & then disappears. My menu says it's active but I SEE NOTHING! Waited 15 minutes stiil nothing! So I searched my Harddrive of eveything of Xnap & trashed it all & Then re-installed Beta 4...get same results..I see Nothing!....but Mr.Menu says it's there! So I re-installed beta 2 & that works just fine. I'm running Jaguar 10.2.2 but Beta 3 & 4 is a Turtle with a Leopard Shell pattern

The previous review forgot to mention that LimeWire searches on the Gnutella network, Neo uses the Kazaa network but XNap searches on the OpenNap network. Since the 3 networks are different and not interconnected (until XNap plugins or ML-donkey plugins are ready), then one will probably need to keep all types of clients available to find what one needs. This is especially true when one wants to find non-US music. The OpenNap Network is extremely active and rich... and cannot be closed by the RIAA since it doesn't have a centralized server.

Well, not bad overall, searches were fast, same options as in Limewire, didn't crash on me, but I think I'll stick with Limewire and Neo, thanks. ;)
