On the low end, this new version requires 10.7. Won't work with 10.6.8.

This is a great app. However, it isn't compatible with 10.10 beta 2 (Yosemite). I hope the author works to update the app.

@Vagator and everyone else: Mr. Tides is uncrippled shareware. That means you can use it without any restrictions, and then pay the shareware fee if you like it and decide to keep using it. The download is not a demo. You're on the honor system.

By far and away the best Tides program I have used. Regularly updated, responsive author. Brilliant range of Stations. I keep my iTouch because of the Aye Tides version. Unfortunately not on Android.

I really hate giving this app a crummy review. I've used it for years to get tide/sun/moon events into iCal, and I still use version 3 on my old Snow Leopard Mac for this purpose. However, the export to Calendar feature does not work at all under Mountain Lion. When that functionality returns, I'll give this app 5 stars.

Requirements: author's site says "Mr. Tides 4 is compatible with any intel-based Macintosh™ computer running Mac™ OS 10.5, 10.6, 10.7, or 10.8." I run it on 10.6.5.

Ah... upon opening it states it is now shareware. This is just an update to my previous comment.

I could not download the Beta 4 version. I have version 3 and it used to work but I recently upgraded to Mountain Lyon and now V3 is broken. :-( Let me know when Beta 4 will be available. Best. Salty Doug

I've been using this app for several years and have really found it useful, not only to plan my field work, but as an educational tool for students in my oceanography or marine biology courses. Unfortunately, the newest version has taken a step backwards, in my opinion. The satellite images are a nice visual touch, but take some time to load (10s?) when you are switching views. Please consider returning to a faster or less graphic intensive mode. Second, the calendar view of 'month' is much less informative that in the previous version, at least graphically. In the previous version, the colors for rising/falling/neagive tides were displayed on the month view. In the current version, the calendar view graphics have been simplified and there isn't a way to display these colors. This was useful in showing students the changes in a month at a glance and makes it easier to find that elusive minus tide. You can still see the colors in the DAY view, but no longer the calendar month view. Please consider providing the colors as an option on the calendar view. (And gimme back those old moon phase icons - they were cool!). Lastly - what happened to the "X" in the app name? In any case, I hope you will consider my suggestions and continue to improve the app.

Works better than ever now that it is an Objective-C app and not REALbasic. Looks better too, but that is because 'brushed metal' doesn't bother me.

A top-notch tides tracker. We live near the Jersey Shore and use this app. to accurately track tides at multiple locations. The author is very responsive to suggestions and provides quick-turnaround on bug fixes. An excellent piece of work.

This continues to be a fine application that I use frequently to casually track the tides where I live in Mexico. I've conversed with the developer via email on a few occasions and he's very responsive.

Developer is responsive to emails, actively engaged in development. The app works, perhaps a bit slow but it works quite well. Especially important for me in this version is the inclusion of an update checker so that the new TCD file format (which combines the harmonics and offsets files) gets updated without me having to go to another website to download the latest harmonics/offsets files. Nice! My thanks to the developer.

This is a great program that is very clear and easy to understand. I really like that I can download the tides, sunrise sunset and moon times to my iCal program... which in turn I can load onto my iPod. Working in the Pacific Ocean in the NorthWest, I actually find it easier to check my iPod while listening to my tunes on the way to work and know not only what the tide is doing, but when I can expect sunrise (sunset). Thank you!

This software is just what good software should be, easy, straightforward, it's stable and it just does what it's supposed to. Now I don't need to track down tide tables, they are right there on my G4 on the boat...wherever I might be. Love your work!

Works great! I am into photography and live close to the Atlantic and it's great to keep track of tides. The interface is perhaps not the most elegant but hey, for the price (FREE!) it's great! OK, so I say great a lot but this is a great piece of software :-)

Some lamers charge you for useless sharewares (screensavers, lol). They have to learn from Mr Tides: it's great, it's free, it works, that's cool. Thanks and bravooo.

Have found it useful at our boat committee meetings to determine a suitable time to carry out repairs to the launching ramp at the lowest tide. Graphical form easier to discuss than tables
