ShutterSlim finds visually similar photos in your Apple Photos library—not just exact duplicates. It uses Apple's Vision framework for semantic matching, catching photos that other cleaners miss: same scene, different angle or lighting. Just a comment, and not a direct reflection of ShutterSlim, which I haven't tried. Is it AI?
Everyone is jumping on the AI bandwagon. AI is based on Large Language Models which ingest and rationalize large sets of data to which queries are submitted and the AI sifts through all possible data it's been taught to arrive at a conclusion.
Most duplicate finding tools use heuristic algorithms to determine matches: Name, size, date, checksum, bit matching, etc.
Some of these algorithms work very well, but I have yet to find one that's perfect. I haven't found the perfect AI yet, either.
Your mileage may vary. But if this is labeled as AI for marketing purposes, I'd be wary.
