Tried 40+ note-taking apps, UpNote was the winner by a mile So glad MacUpdate has FINALLY added UpNote — several YEARS after it became widely available. I've spent a ridiculous amount of time testing different note-taking apps against each other, trying to find The One that meets all my needs. UpNote isn't quite perfect yet (e.g., no collaboration), but it IS the perfect alternative to Evernote (without the Evernote bloat), and has become the app I use more than any other (including browsers), across all my devices. UpNote is intuitive and easy to work with, has keyboard shortcuts for *everything* -- even text colors. Unlike the glut of Markdown apps on the market, UpNote has rich text (colors & highlighting), some unique formatting tricks, and a great Formatting toolbar. It can also be a tad bit buggy (formatting quirks). But the developer is very responsive and usually quick with a fix. This app is promising enough that I've bought a lifetime license to help encourage development. I recommend UpNote over *any* other note-taking app, as long as you don't need collaboration. (Would also like to see tabbed browsing and nesting tags.)
