finessTV Client

1.6
11 June 2018

Play EyeTV content (beta).

Overview

finessTV Client plays the live TV stream of a TV receiver or archived movies.

There are currently two different server versions:

  • finessTV Server ET for streaming the live TV stream of EyeTV
  • finessTV Server ST for streaming the live TV stream of a Sat IP (DLNA/UPnP) compatible TV receiver (like Fritz!Box Cable Router or FRITZ!WLAN Repeater DVB‑C)

Clients on Apple TV, iPhone, iPad or Mac can easily and privately connect to the server within the local network or from outside the local Wi-Fi, and friends can be invited to share television and archived movies.

After the successful connection, the available channels are displayed on the left and the current live TV stream is displayed on the right. If EPG data is available, an info will be shown with the time start / end of the program. And scheduled recordings can be added in the EPG overview.

Please note that incoming connections must be allowed in the firewall settings for the server and the Mac client.

WARNING! - Beware this can corrupt your EyeTV software.

It works as advertised. However, after using once (testing), I found it corrupted the sound of EyeTV app (Mac) (no sound) requiring a complete uninstall and fresh install of EyeTV.

I then went to provide feedback via the FinessTV website for the developers but their contact us page does not work. The URL is not recognised. So one has no way of informing the developers of bug, issues, etc.

Try this at your peril folks. I won't be again.

Unfortunately we can not reproduce your problem - but we would be happy if you would contact us to solve this very unusual behavior.

But you are saying that you could not contact us via the contact us page? The contact page of finessTV gives you an email address to contact us - please replace " [at] " and " [dot] " with the corresponding symbols (without blanks).

On request, no other user has ever had a similar problem.

In fact, finessTV does not change EyeTV - so we can not retrace how finessTV could corrupt the sound of the EyeTV playback.

Only the VLC EyeTV capture plugin - which is not developed by us but used - adds this plugin to EyeTV. But even here we can not see any cause. VLC has a strong user platform - if there would be a problem, then surely something would be found on the internet. However, a search did not reveal anything here.

The more we are interested in finding out the cause of your problem and would be very happy to get in contact with you. As we said, you have to convert the email address into a valid format (local-part@domain.com) yourself - this is to protect against spam.

Thank you Dev for trying to resolve this issue and get in touch with me. Apologies for the delay replying. I tried installing and reinstalling your software twice and had the same time-wasting result. I don't have time to muck around trying to get this to work and more than likely nor do others. If it is another 3rd party component that is likely to cause the issue (VLC plugin) then perhaps you should consider an alternative solution? Concept is sound. Execution maybe not. Good luck with it.
