Whether you're an experienced technician that works on multiple computers a day or an everyday-user wanting to troubleshoot your own machine, ATOMIC was made for you. One click of your mouse and ATOMIC will perform a comprehensive test of your system's memory. You don't even need to read the manual. More extensive test options are available for those who want to dig deeper into potential problems.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. Micromat seems intent on offering $49.99 standalone utilities that supposedly offer better functionality (according to, uh, Micromat) than what's provided in TechTool Pro. (Drive Scope is another.) Earth to Micromat: Why don't you focus on integrating the functionality of these supposedly superior utilities into TechTool Pro itself? By selling these standalone programs, you only undercut the perceived, if not actual, value of TechTool Pro. Earth to people who feel the need to test their Mac's memory: scroll down to Mcr's comment on 10 December 2016. Get yourself the FREEWARE memtest86 or memtest86+. Either one is better than "Atomic" (who came up with that silly name?) because each has a smaller footprint in RAM and can thus test more RAM. And Micromat, please stop treating your customer base as if it's a bunch of absolute SAPS. -SB

Could be very useful, but for what it does the price tag is a bit prohibitive. I usually use some more cost effective alternatives to verify memory for non-ECC systems.

Memtest86 and Memtest86+ (pronounced 'memtest86 plus') work perfectly fine on all Macs and PCs I have tried it on. Memtest86 has a free version (plus a Paid Pro version)l; it is the original program started way back in 1994. It is now owned by Passmark. Memtest86+ is a separate product maintained by a different group, which is a port based on the original Memtest86 source code, which is and always will be free, and is distributed under the open source GNU license.

Both are packaged as bootable micro Linux kernel utilties that can boot off a USB or CD, that is why it doesn't matter if it is a Mac or Windows. The advantage of this approach is there is no MacOS or Windows operating system involved to get in the way of testing. This is 'straight to the metal' testing so to speak, other than a VERY small Linux boot kernel.

The level and sophistication of the testing is deep. Running all the various tests can take hours, and it can be set in a loop to run continuously, helpful to uncover those nasty 'random' errors that happen intermittently or only when the chip is hot and taxed. I recommend trying memtest86+ first, it is no frills and runs in character mode/terminal mode and is the most hardware compatible across the board, old and new motherboards. It also provides alot more hardware info, from chipsets, CPU timing, etc. If you want slightly more sophisticated UI, then try memtest86 the free version, and if you really feel it is necessary, then the memtest86 Pro version for $39. but I would bet that the free version of either memtest86 or memtest+ is all you will need.
