WhatsYourSign adds a menu item to Finder to display cryptographic signing information of a file. Verifying a file's cryptographic signature can help deduce its origin or trustability, help to determine whether a file should be trusted. There is no simple way to view a file's signature from the UI, unfortunately, and that is why WhatsYourSign was created.

What's New

Version 1.5.0:
  • finder sync now 'attached' to dynamically mounted volumes
  • for app bundles, hashes of application binary now displayed
  • certain directories (i.e. '/.file') ignored to address (Apple?) perf issues on High Sierra+
  • checks for revoked certs now performed via 'kSecCSEnforceRevocationChecks' CS flag
  • improved installer ('restart finder', 'upgrade', etc)
  • for universal (fat) binaries, relevant architecture is determined, then explicitly checked via `SecStaticCodeCreateWithPathAndAttributes` to ensures signature is properly validated

Requirements

  • OS X 10.10 or later
