iTunes CD-RW Helper1.0

21 April 2001

Make older CD-RW drives compatible with iTunes burning.

Overview

Note: iTunes CD-RW Helper is no longer under development, and it is no longer available for download.

iTunes CD-RW Helper makes it so you can burn CDs using iTunes if you have an older CD-RW drive. It does it by mimicing the inquiry string of a drive.

It doesn't do anything, no instructions,no idea what to do with it. I must be missing something, but a few of us have looked at it and none of us have any idea what to do.

Don Go to the following website for instructions.. I haven't used it yet, but I have no doubt that it will work great. I am going for a set of fives as I am an optimist and also since the program was designed by the original authors of Toast, it must be good.....good luck!

I have a Ricoh CD-R/RW RW7060S and Mac OS 9.2.2 loaded and it doesn't allow iTunes 2.0.3 or DiskBurner recognize the drive. Toast Titanium 5.0.2 loves the drive but so did 3.5.7 and 4.1.3 so why did I have to buy the upgrade to be in the same state?

Worked nicely with a new LaCie burner not yet supported by iTunes 2.02.

This little program would probably look great, except for one problem. To use it, you must have Toast 5. However, most of the burners that come with Toast 5 included ARE supported by iTunes, but older cd burners that iTunes doesn't support come with Toast 4 or similar, which doesn't work with this program. Anyone else see the catch 22 here? I suggest the writer of this program make it compatible with Toast 4, and then I'll see about giving it a better review.
