Desktop Intercom overview
Desktop Intercom is a simple and intuitive application that allows you to broadcast your voice to another Mac or Windows PC on your local network. You can also listen to the remote location and there is never any end-user intervention required at the remote computer. If you want to keep your privacy, just disable the listen feature at your computer. You can easily access the application via the speaker icon in the menu bar or by a simple hot key.
There is no account registration, sign-in, or internet access required. Just start Desktop Intercom on each computer and they will discover each other. Then simply press the 'Talk' or the 'Listen' button to start communicating. It is that easy!

Version: 2.5.3
Hard to tell. Just downloaded it for my iMac. 502 error on Online Help. No instructions for also installing this on the Windows PC in another room.

+1 on ease of use. This was super easy to install and just worked out of the box without any configuration required. This app has been hugely useful to my wife and I. She is a hardcore Mac user while I only use Windows and this was the only cross-platform intercom we could find. We use it to communicate back and forth when I am in the office and she is in the kitchen. I am dinging this one star because the user interface is so butt-ugly but as far as functionality it is rock-solid. There was one occasion where it was acting flaky but it turned out I needed to reboot my Wifi router. After that it worked normally so make sure if you have problems consider that this app relies on your network working properly.
