Foxit PDF Reader overview

Foxit PDF Reader is a free, light-weight PDF document viewer. It allows you to create, view, and print PDFs. The application is noticeably smaller than Adobe's Acrobat software, making it ideal for those of you who need a powerful program which doesn't rely heavily upon system resources. Its core function is compatible with PDF Standard 1.7. Whether you're a consumer, businessperson, or a member of a government agency or educational organization, you need to read, create, sign, and annotate (comment on) PDF documents and fill out PDF forms. Foxit PDF Reader is one of the few high-volume PDF reader providing a complete PDF creation solution, providing the power of PDF creation to every desktop. Foxit Reader comes equipped with comprehensive protection against security vulnerabilities, keeping your system and company safe.

As mentioned by others, when viewing large files (40+ pages ?), rendering and scrolling slows down, while Preview has no issues with same files. It doesn't seem that it is a caching issue, as even a large document with enough memory could easily be fully loaded into memory, so it appears to be rendering which is the bottleneck. On the other hand, the UI for managing multiple files and quickly flipping between them is nice, so if your workflow calls for viewing alot of PDFs, comparing, switching back and forth, a good choice, as long as the PDFs aren't too big.

I've been using Foxit Reader as default PDF reader on Windows PC for years. But the Mac version isn't performed well. When browsing very large files, the rendering and scrolling speed is much slower than Preview.apps. When used as annotation tools, Foxit is OK, but there are better choices.

Great little viewer. No nonsense, simple and works perfectly. Wish I had found it sooner.

Works like a charm. Apple Preview app was corrupting PDF files when saving-as or exporting. Even when saving via print function, left corrupt files - totally unreadable. Not good Apple. Found this, chose it as default PDF reader. Sorted.
