Maxel free download for Mac

Maxel

2.5.1
20 November 2019

Native download manager and accelerator.

Overview

Maxel speeds up your downloads by splitting each file into parts and downloading them simultaneously, maximizing your bandwidth. Maxel also manages your downloads, starting the next download when bandwidth is available and re-trying ones that fail automatically. Partial downloads are no problem either: Maxel saves its progress and can resume your downloads even if your mac restarts.

Features
  • Drag-and-drop snippets of webpages into Maxel to download any links within
  • Browser Extensions: Kickoff downloads from within Safari or Chrome (others coming soon)
  • Built-in Browser: Log into file sharing websites from Maxel's browser and let Maxel do the downloading
  • Compute MD5/SHA1 hashes of files to detect corruption
  • SSH public key authentication for SFTP
  • API for adding downloads in scripts
  • Maxel supports the following protocols: HTTP, HTTPS, SFTP

A shame that the trial is outdated. But I suppose it’s still better than nothing.

Another app store piece of junk that doesn't support Firefox and doesn't say so until you waste your money and find out It's completely useless! I'm really surprised nobody on this forum ever mentions the free Firefox add on DownThemAll. Been using It for over a decade and find It very reliable.

Firefox plugin is right here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/send-to-maxel/

I used to use DTA but it's not really a native Mac app, so it didn't support things I wanted like drag & drop, QuickLook, etc. If you're unhappy with Maxel, you can ask Apple for a refund.

There's also a free demo online for those who want to know what they're getting into.

The program still lacks some of the features, but it is considered one of the best programs to download files for Mac, I hope to add features from the developer promised.

Heya, be sure to shoot me an email at support@maxelapp.com so I can count your vote on feature requests. I typically work on requests in popularity order, thanks!

Built-in Browser is good. It is splendid above all that a developer copes for a request flexibly.

This is hands down the best download manager I have used on my Mac. It is blazing fast and downloads using http, https and sftp. So, I use it to download huge files from my seedbox because it allows to resume interrupted downloads. It also has several useful features including batch downloading and checking the MD5 hashes of downloads. The built-in browser makes it easier to add download links to the app. The developer is super-responsive and updates the program frequently with new features.

Thanks for the review! Shoot me an email if there are any issues or features you want to see.

Also @shralldam, I don't post fake reviews; rather, Maxel has quite a few users out there, and many like the app enough to leave their feedback (I had my beta release in 2013 and I've been on the MAS since 2014). But I understand your concern, astroturfing is an issue online in general.

This is not a fake review. I use it all the time and I am not affiliated to the developer. I also use other download managers but Maxel is my preferred download manager.
