21 May 2020

Database management studio for MySQL.

Overview

SQLPro for MySQL is a lightweight MySQL client, allowing quick and simple access to Oracle MySQL Servers, including those hosted in Amazon RDS. This SQL Client is only for MySQL and will not work with other database servers such as MSSQL or PostgresSQL.

Features
  • Syntax highlighting
  • Intellisense
  • Tab-based interface
  • Support for executing multiple queries at once
  • Quick access to tables, columns, and more
  • Stored procedure execution

What's new in SQLPro for MySQL

Version 2020.47:
  • Fixed an issue when editing results and hitting 'Apply' (without preview) would sometimes generate an error.
  • If no tabs are open and the history menu item is clicked or the keyboard shortcut is activated, a new tab will be opened with the history popup visible.
  • Inserting rows via the results grid no longer pops up an insert dialog. You can still access the dialog by right clicking a row and choosing 'Edit'.
  • You can now duplicate rows in the results grid.

Most helpful

Having just tried it on a copy of an existing stable production database:

- adding/editing stored procs and stored functions fails each time , even if the code is the most basic inside it, eg SELECT 1;
- no user management that I could see
- no table FK relationship constraint management that I could see

Has promise but from my very quick test today, not something I could use for any serious work

I won't give a rating as I have not spent enough time with it.

I do have the SQLPro for SQLite version form the same author (who has awarded this, his own product, a 5* review I see...) which started life barely usable but has improved tremendously over time - hopefully the same will happen with this

Although, given how good SequelPro and Workbench are (as well as TOAD now too), I have to wonder why anyone would drop $20 on a MySQL GUI client nowadays
