Free your music from iTunes.

Overview

Export for iTunes lets you export your playlists and albums from iTunes to any local folder, external storage, SD card or USB drive! With Export for iTunes you can transfer easily your playlists to your car stereo or any other media player. Convert aac/m4a files to mp3 for best compatibility with most sound systems; view a demo video.

The app converts, copies and organizes your playlists' and albums' music files into folders, and creates the .m3u file that lets you play your playlist on any media player. For every album, you can include an image file with album artwork. You can browse and select which of your playlists or albums you want to export. See all playlist/album tracks with their metadata without opening the iTunes app. You can also export the track list from any album or playlist to Excel, so you can create a file with info about all your iTunes music. Export for iTunes let you preview and export metadata like: Title, Artist, Time, Album, Genre, File path, Kind, and Bitrate. The app does not modify your iTunes library.

Yes, iTunes sucks big time. Apple is so focused on using it as a tool for pushing Apple Music that it seems to have half-forgotten the original purpose of the app, to let the individual user ride herd on his own media. I've looked at several of these substitutes, and although some of them have substantial merits they all have the same weakness that, at least for me, is a deal killer: they lack an iOS equivalent. If I'm ever going to walk away from iTunes for cataloguing, managing and playing my media (and I hope that day will come) I think need to be able to do this across the board. Every available alternative is only a half-measure. So, even if this happens to be a great piece of software, thanks but no thanks.

I'd had issues with DoubleTwist exporting my playlists. After searching options Export for iTunes came up so figured I'd give it a go. Love all the options is offers, including letting me change the file names - this will help a lot in my car as I don't care about track number or album name, just artist & song name. Glad I downloaded it, well worth the price.

This app does what it promises to do. The interface is simple and clean, which is what I like. I only wish for a little more options within a playlist I want to export, e.g. select which tracks to exclude from exporting without changing the actual playlist, or combine songs from multiple playlists and export them into a new playlist.. Other than that, I'm very pleased with Export for Itunes.
