I'm not sure what caused Dejmac's problems, but I had no trouble adding a movie to a project. Overall I think the product is a good first effort. I use another product (3dissue) to produce flipbooks right now. While it is more capable, its also a lot more expensive. Here are my initial opinions on the app: Plus: Feature set is decent Product is inexpensive Minus: Output is flash Mobile output while available is incomplete If the developer places a priority on making the output HTML5 instead of flash it could be a stunning product.

The text looks terrible though. I also get nothing from Support except a promise that they are working on the issue. I have lost money from advertisers. Not acceptable.

@ coco: Apparently the humor was too subtle; The name of the software shown here in MU is "1stFlip Filpbook," that's FILP (not FLIP) so I wanted to call attention to the unintended misspelling in a humorous manner. :-))

Having read the comments below, I find it interesting that it is still being offered for sale, but this time at BitsDuJour, for the princely sum of $19 (80%) off.

I have bought the Standard (not Pro) Version at MacUpdate Promo and it worked fine. I have now downloaded the Pro version, but it does not work: the "Edit Pages" (the only additional and critical feature in the Pro Version) menu leads to a blank page and nothing happens (MacBook Pro, OS X 10.10.1). I have contacted support three days ago, but still have no answer. I hope they can fix this. In short: flip book creation works fine, but not being able to edit the pages is a must. I'll update my feedback when the problem is solved. Would like to know if others have the same problem

Update. Support contacted me, we had a very intensive mail exchange, today I got a working version. The problem was on my Mac, a font was missing. I am still testing, not everything is working perfectly, but I definitely must increase my rating to ****, due in particular to the excellent and competent support 24/7.

I just completed the creation of two of my first flipbooks for my new website, and I have to admit that I can barely keep myself from jumping up and down in joy and satisfaction for how cool my flipbooks look and how much class they are going to add to my site, once I release it the public. I do not have any special insight into the validity of the claims of plagiarism by FlipBuilder in regards to 1stFlip allegedly having stolen their code. If the charges are valid, and if 1stFlip is pushed out of business for legal or ethical issues, then I guess my comments can be applied, in the main, to Flipbuilder's product, more or less. All I can say that, issue of price notwithstanding, this is an excellent product. If you are looking for a product that can take your PDF file and turn it in an animated, page flipping book, then Fllipbook Creator will do the job for you. I have had much correspondence with the 1stFlip technical support team, whose replies are reasonably prompt, considerably humble, and quite helpful, no matter how long it takes to track down the problem and work together towards a clarification and a solution. For example, for some reason we could not quite figure out, neither FlipBook Creator, nor Flipbook Creator Pro, could successfully convert a PDF I imported which was a longer combination of two other PDF files which themselves had successfully converted. The 1stFlip Team asked me to Dropbox the problematic so that they could give it a shot. They reported that they were able to convert the file locally, but the interesting thing is that they mentioned in passing in passing that they were using Lion. On the hunch that maybe the latest and greatest Mac OS, Mavericks, 10.9.3, might not be a suitable environment for all of Flipbook Creator's work (Mavericks did convert the source PDFs for the combo file, but not the combo file), I did some testing in Mountain Lion. As it happens, Mountain Lion succeeded where Mavericks failed! Hey, so what? I'm a pragmatic guy. I got what I wanted. I just had to improvise a little. (People wonder about the wisdom of having all of the Mac OSes installed on partitions and/or external FireWire volumes, going back to Panther? Now you know!) Anyway, I share that anecdote to say that the program is great, but not quite perfect. The Documentation, at times, is murky and incomplete. Although it is ideally well-structured, by using text and screen captures, overall it is too minimalistic and leaves too much to the imagination of the reader. It could be cleaned up and amplified. Videos could be added to make things even better. None of these lacks should stop you from getting this product, for the tech support can fill in the gaps of the documentation, upon request. My advice to them was to make the documentation clearer and more complete, so that they are not so burdened with inquiries that could be more widely addressed with better documentation. But what do I know? Maybe they need to keep busy to keep their jobs.

My experience is NOT as pleasant. The text in my 1stFlipbook are almost unreadable. Put the problem to Support, they told me they are working on it and i must wait only a few days for the new version. Nothing yet! My publication is now 3 weeks late - lost face with customers and money with advertisers. THIS IS A TERREIBLE EXPERIENCE.

As someone whose analysis of this flip-book market back in late January 2014 led me to write that “something doesn’t smell right” with all the similarity between websites and interfaces of software designed to do exactly the same thing, I find the revelation at the 1stFlip Flipbook Creator Pro record here on MacUpdate by an apparent Flipbuilder staffer that their competitor over at 1stFlip actually stole their engine code to be quite remarkable, yet, given how things are progressing in entrepreneurial China, which is not a signatory to copyright laws, not so surprising. I have examined the document which JakeT8832 directed us to read. It is a compelling indictment of plagiarism in the field of software theft. If you go to the 1stFlip, it’s no wonder you can no longer download their current versions: they are all marked as “Unavailable.” I suspect that the legal hammers have already fallen on their heads, and rightly so. The hatchets are next. The side-by-side comparison of the nearly identical interfaces, bolstered by a look into the code built into the engines of both software products, will be convincing evidence to any objective, rational judge that 1st Flip ripped off Flipbuilder without the intelligence, talent, or subtleness to cover up their crime. While it is quite disturbing to uncover actual evidence of the theft, part of me is somewhat amused and entertained, for I had perceived all this happening back in January, when I was checking out the market prior to buying something I could affordably use. But, as I said then, I had no evidence to back up my suspicions. Everything looked alike to my eyes, but I had no tools with which to peel back the skins and examine the insides, where the software engines reside, to come to anything remotely approaching evidentiary stature. That skin-peeling has finally been done, and now there is plenty of damming evidence, so it won’t be long before 1st Flip rolls over and dies, if it hasn’t abandoned its offices already. My ethical dilemma now is that, having purchased a copy of 1st Flip during a 60% off promotion run here by MacUpdate, what position am I for having licensed software that was illegally developed in the first place? The probability is high that the greedy 1tFlip owners will be put out of business or jailed, if they can be located. That means that I get no updates or technical support either. I could not afford to spend $300 for an application that I feel is grossly overpriced for what it does from the git-go, and the only reason I opted to buy 1st Flip’s offering was due to the facts that the software does decently do what it promises (mostly), and because it was marked down to a more realistically affordable price, thanks to the MacUpdate promo. I did not intentionally wish to cause any economic harm to FlipBuilder, if indeed. the software engine inside my licensed copy from 1stFlip actually belongs to FlipBuilder. But what is my legal relationship, or obligation, to FlipBuilder now? Cheating and lying gets to be so messy, when greed takes over. See, I knew back then something was fishy. Now I know what smells.

Hello, a few days ago I bought this software at MacUpdate Promo. I had to realize that the software does not work properly. The menu options NEW, OPEN, SAVE and SAVE AS can not be selected. I can´t save or open anything. This is neither professional not acceptable. It's crazy and pretty brazen, to sale an unfinished software in this way. For this reasons I want to take the 30 days Money Back Guarantee support from 1stFlipbook – this is still not happen. Even after the promise to fix the error within 24 hours and send me a beta version – nothing has happened. This does not reflect well on the software and the company.

@steverjobs In general, I really try to be kind to people of limited intelligence, but, my Gawd, what a rude moron you are. You deserve to be smacked for spreading such harmful disinformation about the software developers and their product. Your "insight" that the standard menu options of NEW, OPEN, SAVE, and SAVE AS 1st Flip's Creator Pro for Mac cannot be selected is about as useful or as germane to the functionality of this excellent product as someone complaining that they bought a mountain bike but that it has no steering wheel, no battery, no directional signals, no gas tank, and no ash trays! It is so obvious that you are too lazy to read any of the brief, well-illustrated online articles Documentation article which the 1st Flip team has made freely available on their website. Because if you had, or if you even had eyes to read the user interface of the product itself, you might have grasped, if your IQ is a little closer to 100 than it appears to be, that FlipBook Creator is a CONVERSION utility that happens to use a different set of equivalent semantical terms to fulfill exactly the same functions as those designated under the FILE menu. If those are too words for your lips to handle in one gulp, let me try to dumb it down for you: • FlipBook Creator created a NEW document when it uses the IMPORT PDF of its menu bar to bring in a document that you (well, not you, because this program is way over your puny head) can then work on, using the control panel options clearly listed in the right-hand column of setting. • Having OPENed a NEW FlipBook Creator and adjusted the settings to your liking, you can then SAVE your soon-to-be animated page-flipping marvel in several formats all at once. You can CONVERT your NEWly imported PDF into: > an html file that can be accessed via a browser and displayed beautifully on someone's computer screen; > a zip file that contains that entire web site folder either for archival purposes, or to send in an email, or to upload to Dropbox for subsequent distribution to others, who, after unzipping it, can open the flip book in their browser; > an application that can presents the flip book only on a Mac computer > a set of files that allows the flipbook to be seen on a Mobile device. During this CONVERT process, you even get a chance to SAVE AS the files under a different name, which, in your case, could include "Made inadvertently by a rude fool" as a unique identifier for search engines, not that you would be entirely alone in that category. So, Mr. I'm so unimaginative and stupid that I stole the name of the founder of Apple and rudely embarrassed myself in the process, it is you whose undisciplined brain and rude manners who revealed yourself who has a tendency to engage in behavior which "does not reflect well" on you. Next time, try to engage a well-functioning brain before you dribble your inane opinions. Or, in your case, try to steal someone else's brain, like you try to steal steve jobs good name. Obviously something in you recognizes that you are not an honest person: you don't even like yourself. Why should I respect you? You have nothing to offer anyone me. Frown me, if you prefer. It just makes me more inspired to expose the truth all the more, no mater who can't take it.

1stFlip flipbook creator should have been a nice piece of software if its developers hadn't stolen the source code from FlipBuilder. There are so many in common though their software does not perform as well as ours does. We have collected quite a lot of strong evidence for this infringement act. We can even find "flipbuilder.com" wording in their software. You can see our evidence here: http://www.flipbuilder.com/larceny-warning.html
