Vuo overview
Vuo lets media creators make interactive animations, exhibits, performances, and professional-grade media projects by connecting up simple building blocks. Media creators can use these blocks to manipulate audio input, images, layers, videos, and 2D + 3D graphics, as well as record high-quality video of the results.
Vuo's features include:
- Real-time interaction using audio input, MIDI, OSC, and Art-Net DMX integration, or Kinect and Leap Motion device input
- Sharing visuals with other Mac apps through Syphon
- High-quality video export and interactive recording
- Exporting compositions as Mac apps
- CPU and GPU performance optimizations, including automatic multi-threading, compilation to machine code, and shader-based OpenGL

- In Map Image to Palette, added several error-diffusion dithering options and improved palette-matching accuracy
- Fixed a bug where nothing would be rendered when using the Make (Targeted) Fisheye Camera nodes
- Fixed flickering/incorrect texture on the output of Spike 3D Object on some systems
- Fixed error when exporting an app from a composition that contains a generic node and either Make Image from Web Page or NDI nodes

Five years ago or so, I tried Quartz Composer, but was unable to wrap my head around it. Then I tried Vuo, and got something after a few minutes. I think that the "dataflow paradigm" is pretty clear in Vuo and the range of possible projects is quite astounding.

VUO is a million miles ahead of Quartz Composer and I'm really impressed by it power and "quasi-Open Source" nature ! I purchased VUO Pro today to be eligible for the free update to VUO 2 Pro
