Resize images intelligently and quickly.

Overview

Genius Generator helps you to resize images -- intelligent and incredibly fast! With Genius Generator you're able to generate icons in every size. Simply drop your image into Genius Generator, select one of the 17 pre-built icon sizes or enter your own, and select one of the 8 image formats. Then just click export, enter a name, and select the directory where Genius Generator should generate your icon. If you use a specific custom icon size often, simply go into Genius Generator's preferences, add it in "Custom Sizes" and it will always be available among the pre-built sizes. But with Genius Generator you can also create multiple icons at once. You just have to go to "Icon Package Creators" in the main menu and select either the iOS, OS X, or Android Icon Package Creator. The iOS and the OS X Icon Package Creator also support Xcode 5's new .appiconset files. If you want Genius Generator to create smaller files, just head to the "Advanced" section in the preferences and adjust the JPEG quality, the image interpolation, and enable or disable antialiasing.

So, what does Genius Generator offer?

  • 17 pre-built icon sizes
  • You can create as many custom icon sizes as you want
  • 8 icon formats selectable
  • You can export multiple icons at once with the iOS, OS X and Android Icon Package Creators

There seems to be a discrepancy between the text describing this application and what it actually does. The developer's website says that it is a "URL-shortener," not an image shrinker. A bundle at Paddle.com says: "Short Menu$1.99 Lightning fast and intelligent URL shortener. Short Menu sits in your menubar, waiting for you to shorten an URL. It supports 20 different services and is very easy to use. Simply click on Short Menu's menubar icon to open it. It automatically takes the URL from your clipboard. You only have to press one button, then Short Menu will shorten your URL and automatically copy the short URL for you. After shortening an URL, Short Menu saves both URLs in the history and sends a notification to you. These notifications are optional and you can configure them in the preferences."

It seems that this app creates only icons. Can it be used to reduce the size of a photo? I don't like apps that phone home each time they are launched.

Yes, you can reduce the size of a photo (also the physical size, depending on your preferences.)

With "phone home" you probably mean the download of the current icon from our servers for Paddle.

Seems to be an issue here on MacUpdate, sorry. Short Menu is an URL shortener, Genius Generator is an image resizer. I'll correct this.
