Version 2.5.4

Note-C overview

Note-C is a very simple application for collecting your notes, snippets, and any other pieces of text without limiting access to your entries, yet offering extensive export features.

  • Saving your entries. Every single entry will be stored in a separate file and you can freely choose where your entries should be saved. All entries are saved in the open TXT file format so you can open your entries in many text editors.
  • Creating multiple notebooks. Note-C allows you to create multiple notebooks, so you can classify your entries by topic and project.
  • Special editor- and fullscreen-modes. Note-C's editor offers a lot of features to make writing more efficient and minimize use of the mouse, such as automatic list creation (* and - signs) or moving of text passages with keyboard shortcuts. Also, Note-C offers fullscreen mode in OS X 10.7 Lion and 10.8 Mountain Lion.
  • Collecting external files. You can add files to each entry which will be stored in a separate folder.
  • Markup Support. Note-C supports the following markup-languages: Markdown, Textile, BBCode, Wikitext, HTML, and Smark.
  • Notice Collecting. Note-C offers a range of methods for creating a notice: use its integrated notice feature, the status bar, or the Note-C bookmarklet available for most Web browsers.
  • Exporting entries. Export to plain text, RTF, RTFD, HTML, DOC, ODT, and PDF, and choose to export your entries into separate files or to one file which collects all selected entries. You can also export your selected entries as an ePub-eBook file.

What’s new in version 2.5.4

New:
  • markup formatting can now be applied to several selections in the text at the same time. To select several areas in the text at once, the CMD key must be held down while using the mouse to select the passages to be formatted
  • new preference option for the text editor: if text from web pages is inserted into the text field via drag'n drop or copy/paste, a markup conversion can be performed automatically. This option can be activated in the preferences under Editor
Improvements:
  • improves the correct display of line numbering
  • improved the behavior when creating and closing indented alphanumeric lists
  • various internal improvements, optimizations and updates
Bug fixes:
  • fixes minor bugs with the display of assets in text and adding assets via drag'n drop when images contain spaces in the name
  • fixes a bug that caused the asset not to be added when adding assets to an entry under certain circumstances

Tried to see how the application looks and works. Super tiny font impossible to see anything. On a super Black background is exceptionally annoying. Visited the developer's website, same thing. Black black and more black, plus some tiny red. To make all developer's applications useable the font needs to increased at least double, and background white or any other light shade. Right now its unusable.

When you add export to ODF (the true open document standard), I will give it try. Until then, it isn't as slick as those apps that offer inline formatting along WITH mouse/shortcut formatting control.
