TypeMetal overview
TypeMetal is an HTML-enabled text editor. Both a handy HTML notepad and a serious, structured writing tool, TypeMetal is designed to help you produce modern, semantic, streamlined HTML with ease and agility.
TypeMetal was designed for HTML5, and can also open, edit, and create these HTML document types:
- XHTML 1.1
- XHTML 1.0 (Strict and Transitional)
- HTML 4.01 (Strict and Transitional)

10.8.7 here. I tried the demo, tried to open a page. Spinning pizza wheel for a while. Force quit, tried again. Same. I was interested in checking it out, but not now.

Background: I'm a huge fan of John Gruber's Markdown and Fletcher Penney's MultiMarkdown. I'm also a big fan of Ulysses III. TypeMetal is another very impressive content creation app. What sets it appart is how it enables EASY creation of "concise, professional-grade" HTML. The HTML editing engine is brilliant. Although it's a v1 application, the level of OS X polish is simply splendid. I enjoyed the DEMO so much, I quickly parted with $30. This app is immediately useful, but also has an amazing future.
